Re: Output Devices in Pulse Keeps Changing to Speakers

Thanks so much for taking the time to help. In the end because of other weird issues I ended up reinstalling Linux Mint 20 and all is well now.

Re: Output Devices in Pulse Keeps Changing to Speakers

Thanks so much for persisting on this. I wanted to ask before I tried the latest: I used a headset once that I won't use again, that - as you suspected - I think caused the trouble. Now I've bought a different headset for daily use. (It works just fine.) I wanted to double-check that I won't be muck...

Re: Output Devices in Pulse Keeps Changing to Speakers

It did open for editing, and then gave me this error: (xed:1949): Gtk-WARNING **: 15:52:50.042: Calling org.xfce.Session.Manager.Inhibit failed: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod: No such method “Inhibit” I pasted in the text, saved, restarted, and now Pulse says "establishin...

Re: Output Devices in Pulse Keeps Changing to Speakers

I got this error when I pasted in the first command: ** (xed:6609): WARNING **: 08:47:23.979: The specified location is not mounted Should I proceed though it's not mounted? Also I think you're absolutely right, the problem started when I briefly borrowed a headset (which I won't use again), which m...

I'll paste it in pieces, as it's too big to include in one piece: ________________ > pulseaudio_ps_do sage 1130 2.4 0.2 884804 19108 ? Re: Output Devices in Pulse Keeps Changing to Speakers

Hi MrEen, I forgot to say that I'll never use speakers, so a solution that does away the speaker option entirely would be fine. Oh, interesting - I saw this in the output: analog-output-speaker: Speakers (priority: 10000, latency offset: 0 usec) Properties: device.icon_name = "audio-speakers&qu...

Output Devices in Pulse Keeps Changing to Speakers

OS: Linux Mint 20 XFCE This is a new issue, I'm not sure what caused it. When I start my computer, the Output Devices in Pulse changes from Headphones (correct) to Speakers (incorrect). If I change it by going into this window: output.png everything is fine until I reboot. I have read the other post...

How to navigate Mint dialog boxes using just the keyboard?

OS: Linux Mint 20, XFCE I've found that using the keyboard as much as humanly possible and avoiding the mouse works best for me. Is there a way to navigate dialog boxes like the one below using the keyboard? I do know about the Accessibility Mouse Emulation, but it's fairly clumsy. What I'm hoping f...

Re: When I try to delete printer HP Smart Tank 550 it just reappears.

Whoops - I spoke too soon. When I disabled avahi-daemon, the second printer instance went away, but the actual printer stopped working as well. I deleted the printer, enabled avahi-daemon again, added the printer again, and all is working *but* the second printer instance still shows up in the print...

All set! Yes, I had restarted the computer after disabling cups, but disabling avahi-daemon fixed the second part of the issue. Thanks so much.

Re: When I try to delete HP Smart Tank 550 it just reappears.

Hey folks, thanks very much for your help. I disabled cups and now I'm able to delete the printer but there's just one more tweak I'd love to figure out. As you can see, there is only one printer now: printer1.png But when I go to print a document, the HP printer still shows up: printer2.png I wasn'...

When I try to delete printer HP Smart Tank 550 it just reappears.

OS: Linux Mint 20 XFCE When I try to delete my printer (HP Smart Tank 550) it just reappears. It's the oddest thing. If I try renaming it, it creates a new instance of the original name. The printer itself works just fine, but it'd be nice to be able to delete the extra instance. I've included a scr...

Correct command in a script to shut down Linux Mint 20 XFCE?

OS: Linux Mint 20 XFCE I'd love to have a keyboard shortcut that will shut down my desktop. I do have a script for suspending it with a keyboard shortcut: systemctl suspend This works a treat. But I made a shut down script which reads: systemctl shutdown And nothing happens when I try the keyboard s...

Re: [SOLVED] How can I make the highlighted button very obviously highlighted?

Hi Smurphos - You're totally right, I forgot to give the dialog focus for the original image. I couldn't see the contrast between dark gray and slightly lighter gray even when the dialog was in focus.

Re: How can I make the highlighted button very obviously highlighted?

I played around a bit with Oomox, using the Numix theme, and almost have it. It's now very clear which button is highlighted: https://i.imgur.com/XeNtDdN.png I know, it's silly looking, but WOW am I glad to be able to tell which button is selected! The last tweak I'd love to do (and I get that it mi...
