LMDE 4: time was drifting, so NTP is back

I did the upgrade from LMDE 3 to LMDE 4 this weekend. I just noticed my system clock had drifted by nearly 10 minutes. Looking around I determined that NTP was no longer installed; I missed that during the upgrade I guess. The systemd equivalent was not doing its job, so I reinstalled NTP. Within a ...

Re: LMDE3 to LMDE4

I just did the in-place update as described in the tutorial .... running the install as I described (above) took maybe 10 minutes. needless to say I didn't have to worry about packages because I put down a complete new o/s. this method does require me to re-install any programs that I had installed...

Re: LMDE3 to LMDE4

I just did the in-place update as described in the tutorial . It was pretty smooth, and did take a long time (started it last night at about 22:22EDT, and just finished about 22 minutes ago). I haven't rebooted yet, though the tutorial didn't say I would have to; interesting. In the tutorial, what i...

Re: LMDE 3 “Cindy” Cinnamon released!

The upgrade to Cindy went pretty well. I am wondering if you could suggest answers or pointers to answers for two questions: what prevents LMDE from "rolling" more? E.g., what features require an "upgrade" vs. a series of "updates"? how can I find out about future upgra...

Re: Updating existing LMDE 1 Systems to LMDE 2

Posted this as a comment to the upgrade blog post and decided to bring the question at the end here, where it probably belongs: I followed the steps above. Indeed took a long time, and I ended up with a system that booted - ssh and VNC into it were OK - but the display/X/video side on the console wa...
