<solved> Re: Noson and Firewall (ufw)

I think I have a solution:
I made a rule in Gufw:
>advanced>
name: whatever
insert: 0
policy: allow
direction:both
device: all interfaces
log: no log
protocol: both
from: xxx.xxx.x.xx (IP address sonos speaker) port:empty
to: empty port:empty
+add

hope this is safe?

Re: Noson and Firewall (ufw)

Ok, some news: port 1900 is blocked by my provider as a safety measure (to many DDos attacks using this port). So this does not seem to be the solution for me.

Re: Noson and Firewall (ufw)

Hoser Rob, thank you for your swift reply. Yes, I'm using gufw. On the gitter forum I found this comment by Janbar ( Noson's developer): "First you have to check your router doesn't block the SSDP trafic on lan: multicast 239.255.255.255:1900. SSDP is used by to discover upnp devices. Then the fw sh...

<SOLVED> Noson and Firewall (ufw)

Is there any way to use Noson (Sonos wireless speakers controller for Linux) without switching of the Firewall? Adding rules to the firewall, maybe?

Re: ssh, ping and "no route to host" message in network

Ping doesn't need port 22; that's only ssh. That is quite right, it was the reboot of the router/modem that restored the ping-function. Opening port 22 on the router/modem was not necessary for SSH, what is necessary is: or: disable the server's(=target) firewall, client's(=me) firewall is left unc...

Re: ssh, ping and "no route to host" message in network

Ok, we're getting somewhere :) . I managed to open port 22 on the router/modem. Result: pinging works over the wireless network! But... (there's always one): ssh connection returns this message: <ssh: connect to host 192.168.x.xx port 22: Connection timed out> I use very common firewall settings: In...

Re: ssh, ping and "no route to host" message in network

@rene commands I used in cabled network (I'm not particularly interested in the cabled network, since computers are standing reasonably far apart, but Okay, for arguments sake...): <ping 192.168.x.xx> <ssh username@192.168.x.xx> Both IP's are identical. This host is not added in /etc/hosts I don't s...

Exact Audio Copy equivalent

Does anyone know of a high qualitative equivalent in Linux Mint for Exact Audio Copy in Windows? The possibility of making high quality .flac-files is important.

Re: Installing Linux Mint 18.1 on Macbook Pro & Macbook

On a MacBook Pro i5 type: 8,1 13inch, early 2011, I managed to install Linux Mint 18.1 Cinnamon 64bit using Rufus (https://rufus.akeo.ie/) on an USB-stick. Yumi (https://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator/) didn't work (MacBook seems to need an EFI). Use Windows to create both kinds of...

Best Linux Mint for Intel Atom

Hello, I have an ASUS Eeee PC1011CX "netbook" equipped with Intel Atom N2600 @1,6GHz and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3600. I used to run Windows 7 Student, but that was a complete disaster. Currently I'm running Xubuntu 16.04 Xenial Xerus, which works fairly well, only graphics (video) are a bi...
