Re: Does anybody know of a useable Linux version of Foxit PDF Reader for Windows?

Master PDF Editor does a lot more than Foxit. Version 4 (the prior version) was free for non-commercial use. The current version 5 is $83 and lacks some important features. For more information, see https://www.linuxuprising.com/2019/04/d ... linux.html

Re: Netflix and ... Linux Mint

I can confirm that Netflix runs just fine in Firefox 65.0 under Mint 18.3 and 19.1. Not sure what your problem is. But Netflilx does work under Mint.

Reinstall help needed <SOLVED>

I am running Mint 19.1 on a dual boot system with Win 10. When I originally installed (was 18.3 which I later updated), I created 3 partitions for Linux: root, home and swap. Lately Linux has been occasionally misbehaving and I'd like to try a fresh install of 19.1. How can I do this without affecti...

Re: Which VPN

I have used PIA on several machines in the US and all over Europe and Africa. Very dependable, fast and works well with Linux.

Re: Syncing programs

FYI, I use Dropbox with Linux 18.3 and kernel 4.15.0.34 with no problems. Works like a charm. Awhile ago the tray app would occasionally refuse to open on boot, but recently there have been no problems. I am using Dropbox 57.4.89. Not sure why it's not working for you, but it definitely works with L...

Update manager just updated FF to 62.0. Took about a week longer than my laptop. But all is well.

Firefox Update

I am running Mint 18.3 on both my desktop and laptop. FF on the laptop upgreaded to v. 62.0 several days. FF on the desktop is still at 61.1. Yes, I refreshed the update manager on the desktop an it shows no updates available. Anyone have an idea why?

Thanks

Re: LibreOffice Calc Vs. Excel for Excel Power Users

Another option is to run Excel under Crossover. I have the whole MS Office 2016 package running under Crossover and with the exception of some small things in Access it works very well. That way you can run Excel on your Linux box. I believe there's a free trial of Crossover and you can see how it w...

Re: vpn - yes or no

I have been using PIA for the past year on various devices and love it. I tried installing it on my Asus RT-AC68U router and ran into several issues: 1. It appears to be a lot slower than PIA running on my computers since the processing power of routers is not as great as computers. My speed tests s...

Re: good VPN?

I've used PIA all over the world including some weird places. Always connects, always decent speed. I've used it on Linux, Win 10 and Android and find it stable and dependable.

Look into Private Internet Access. It's not the least expensive, but fast and very reliable. I've used it all over the world on Linux, Win 10 and my Android phone.

Do you have a firewall? If so, try to disable it. I had to enable port 8612 in my firewall for my MG7720 to work.

Re: Installing new Firefox 57 Quantum

Just upgraded to FF57 on Linux Mint 18.2. No problems, just some addons to either remove or update -- hope NoScript becomes compatible soon. FF57 is FAST -- a lot faster than 56 or Chrome on my Mint and Win10 systems.
