Re: Video Problems with Audacity 2.4.1

Upon further reading, I found there there is a file /etc/X11/xinit/xinputrc which contains the line 'run_im default'. If ~/.xinputrc does not exist, this is the file that is used. I have renamed ~/.xinputrc on both my machines to just run the default and things seem to be just fine.

[SOLVED] Re: Video Problems with Audacity 2.4.1

Thanks. I checked .xinputrc on my laptop (where Audacity works) and my desktop (where I had the problem). On the laptop, the line was 'run-im none'. On the desktop it was 'run-im ibus'. I changed the desktop to match the laptop and now Audacity 2.4.2 works like a charm. Evidently .xinputrc was autom...

Video Problems with Audacity 2.4.1

I updated Audacity to 2.4.1 today and am having a series of video problems. If I open Audacity with no file, I used to get solid gray between the top menus and toolbars, and the toolbars at the bottom. With the new version, this area shows what is on the desktop under Audactiy -- as if the area in A...

Re: Thunderbird email question

If you check Preferences->Composition->Addressing->"Automatically add outgoing email addresses...." then the addresses of all your outgoing mail are added to the Collected Addresses address book or any other book you specify. Personally I don't have a need for this so I leave it unchecked. Not sure ...

Try Preferences > Display > Advanced and check "Close message window/tab on move or delete". Does this do what you want?

Zoom Audio Problem

I am trying to use Zoom for meetings on my laptop running Mint 19.3 and get no audio through the speakers. When I go to test it shows the built-in audio and no other selection and I get no audio. Same during attempted meetings. I am running the latest version of Zoom just downloaded from their site....

Re: How to secure my computer

As for FF thinking it's not the default browser, I had this problem and fixed it by opening FF outside firejail and making it the default browser. Then when I open FF in firejail it knows it's the default browser. Evidently the sandboxing does not retain the FF default status.

Re: [SOLVED] Locked out after upgrade from 19.2 to 19.3

Larry, Already looking to get more space. This install is on a dual boot desktop. When I first installed it was for testsing purposes. It turns out I love Linux and now use it 99% of the time. I had set up a separate swap partition of 8gb. I think I'll delete that partition, expand my root partition...

Re: Locked out after upgrade from 19.2 to 19.3

Hi karichen, You were right! The problem was lack of space in my system partition. I cleared out some apps I don't use as well as the apt cache and then tried the upgrade again. Now everything appears to be working properly. The sstrange thing is that I didn't get any warnings or error messages when...
