Re: PhotoGimp Question from a LM Newbie

This forum is mostly about Linux Mint. If you want to get questions answered about Gimp, you are better off going to a Gimp forum like gimpchat.com for example. There will be many more knowledgable people that can assist you better. Very few people here have extensive knowledge about how to use Gimp.

Re: PhotoGimp Question from a LM Newbie

How would I fix the functionality problems I mentioned earlier. For me, in LM 20, buttons fail to work and it's difficult to change tools because what ever tool I try, it wants to keep sticking to the one I first choose. This is not the place to ask these simple questions, use a gimp forum. It func...

Re: PhotoGimp Question from a LM Newbie

As for running PS-7 under wine: Been there, done that and not impressed. You are far better off learning how to use Gimp and other graphics tools that run natively in Linux than buggy under wine. To each their own and you'll have to learn for yourself. P.S. I have my Gimp setup to look much like pho...

Re: [Solved] Pinta - Pencil and Paint Brush not working...

I never used MS Paint, so have no idea how that works. I have used many image editors such as Gimp, Pinta, Krita, PhotoShop, PaintShop, and Paint.NET. Most use those common shortcuts. I had to manually change the Ctrl+I key in Gimp because the default is set to invert colors, which makes no sense at...

Re: [Solved] Pinta - Pencil and Paint Brush not working...

FYI: If you hit Ctrl+D it will de-select. If you hit Ctrl+I it will select the inverse. These are common shortcut keys for most image editors. This is very basic stuff for the typical image editor, but useful for newbies....

Re: [SOLVED] Does it matter if I stay on an Old Linux Mint Version?

My old ACER laptop was bought back in 2009. My old DELL desktop was bought back in 2008. Both are running just fine with LM-20 installed on new and cheap SSD drives that I bought for $35 USD each. What a difference the SSD's made. My old laptop would take forever to boot from the old spinning HDD an...

Re: Gimp- layer via copy

Never heard of that one. Post a link to said plugin or post it directly in a zip file. It may or may not work with the current Gimp 2.10.x. Many old plugins are incompatible because of the way they were written.

I think I read somewhere that OpenGL only works well with Nvidia cards in Linux, if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Davinci Resolve 16.2.7 won't launch properly

I know some people that run Davinci Resove on Ubunto 20.04 which is what LM-20 is based on. They have high end hardware however. I tried and failed to run Davinci on my system because I lacked the needed hardware. Perhaps that is your problem too. https://www.richardlackey.com/davinci-resolve-system...

Re: Scanner not working after udates

Old topic but incase someone is still stuck I fixed mine by (1) open file under "/etc/sane.d/aviation.conf" as root (2) add the text in a new line " option skip-adf" (3) save and reboot. That doesn't work here. Never had any problems with SimpleScan on LM-19, but it won't work on LM-20. Even though...

Re: Gimp: Draw Red Line with Arrow

I can't believe the ignorance in this thread. One would think that someone that would be smart enough to learn Linux, would be smart enough to figure out how to use Gimp? Guess I've over estimated people's aptitude. Gimp is very easy in my opinion, certainly much easier that say Blender. Oh well.

Re: Gimp: Draw Red Line with Arrow

If you're into drawing arrows and lines, then use Pinta as it makes that very easy. That's all I use Pinta for actually. In Gimp you need to use an arrow script or just do it manually using paths. Gimp is an advanced Image Editor and not suited to mundane simple processes like making an arrow. Pinta...

Just use the appimage version, that's what I mostly use for Graphics apps that I want to keep current. Right now I'm using Blender 2.8.3.4.

Re: Software to Edit and sign PDF files

Gimp may be difficult for some, but it's a piece of cake for me. I've been using it for about a year now. Now Blender is quite difficult in my opinion, but that too can be learned as long as you are regularly using it.

I'm sure someone will post possible solutions that are much easier, good luck.

Certainly there are other ways, but I use Gimp for this. Be sure to open the pdf at 300 dpi in Gimp.

Re: Win10 in VirtualBox won't install

Just a tip: Once you've set up your Win10 VM just the way you want it, Export it as an appliance somewhere. That way when ever you install or upgrade an OS, You can import that appliance into VirtualBox. No need to re-install Win10 every time.

No, rich2005 had compiled it and posted it at gimpchat.com. I couldn't find the link, so I posted my copy of it. Easier that way anyway.

Re: Cannot get BIMP installed - would appreciate help

I have it and it works fine in Gimp 2.10.20 here. Copy both bimp and folder to your user plugins folder. Bimp should already be executable, but check anyway.
