Re: Graphical glitch while running Mint

I had this issue, and the culprit trned out to be some of the desktop extensions. Tried disabling extra ones, and narrowed it down to 2, whcih i removed. All worked fine since

Re: Some webpages opening very slowly or not opening at all

No actual advice to offer, but wanted to let you know it's not just you. Certain sites seem to take forever loading, or come up empty for me also, then later they'll work. No rhyme nor reason to it that i can discern

Re: Timeshift?

I would assume not, since it's only backing up SYSTEM changes, not user ones, which are kept n your /home directory

Re: Mint Updater error

Just to clarify, it seems to check all the repos and update the list, then gives that error at the end.

Re: Facebook

Your browser won't make your FB page vanish. Sounds like an issue with FB itself, the page being removed for whatever reason. Have you tried contacting FB and asking about it?

Re: 17.1 Compiz + NVidia + dual screen

Odd. I'm running an install of Mate 17.1, Compiz enabled, and using an Nvidia card 560GTX (from memory),with driver installed, and not having this issue. Dual-monitors working fine. Have you looked at the Monitors setting, and see if anything is amiss there?

Re: Linux Mint 17 KDE With USB Sound Card

Right-click on the volume icon at bottom-right, choose "Select master channel", your usb device will be one of the options, select it. That should render it the default. If not, then also go back to volume icon, right click and select Audio Setup, athen Audio Hardware Setup, and make sure it is the ...

Not overly familiar with that, but why don't you just use KDRC ? Much easier to setup.

Re: Linuxmint running slow after install

I have had this happen once after an inatsll, and it was most frustrating. Finally gave up trying to get it to co-operate and blew it away again, seemed fine after re-install. Still no idea why it behaved so damn slowly.

Re: USB 2.0 Stereo Sound Card Adapter not working

Have you gone into the actual sound settings, and made sure it's set as the output? I have to use similar sometimes, and often the icon being right-clicked to choose doesn't do it, and needs to manually change the setting. At least in my experience.

Re: Rip a DVD to the hard drive?

Try DVDDecrypter under WINE. Works a treat for me, as I've ripped my entire collection, and then encoded the results with Handbrake, keeping the end-results on my home-server. Yep DvdDecrypter is a good program. But doesn't do compression or editing dvd. Dvd shrink does the compression,De-select la...
