Re: Solved: Possible to install glibc 2.29 for Crossroads Inn game?

Thanks xenopeek, I bought it on steam, apparently ubuntu wise it needs a 19.04+ base. After thinking about what you said I requested a refund from steam as I'm not prepared to potentially wreck my current install. If I had more free time I'd be more experimental, but am too happy with my current set...

Solved: Possible to install glibc 2.29 for Crossroads Inn game?

Hi all, I'd like to play Crossroads Inn, without breaking my install. Basically the game can't run without glibc 2.29: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.29' not found Anyone know if it's safe and how to update to glibc 2.29 without breaking anything? https://termbin.com/dpj4 Thanks i...

Re: can't create pannel launcher, where'd the config items go?

Hello eu2. That's the problem right there. Cant do it that way anymore as that menu item is gone for some. Known issue on Git as i explained above Why is this in the Newbie section? Is this still an issue for some with cinnamon 4.2.3? Apologies oldgranola, for jumping in before reading your github ...

Re: impossible to print tif images to pdf

Thanks Euan, I tried your way but doesn't work, an all.tif file is created but is only 8 bytes, and obviously won't be converted. That's annoying, my test involved creating 3 separate images (just plain colour rectangles and exporting to tif via the gimp). tiffcp -a *.tif all.tif Didn't have any is...

Re: No Ethernet connection

Did you try from windows shutting down and then cold booting to linux?
If that still doesn't work left click on the mint network connection icon and disconnect then click on reconnect.

Good luck.

Re: can't create pannel launcher, where'd the config items go?

Linux Mint 19.1 cinnamon 4.0.10. Hello, I am trying to create a panel launcher for a program not in the main menu. I right click on the panel, choose add applet to panel. In the applet chooser that comes up I choose panel launcher applet and click on the + button. Nothing happens except for the che...

Hi phd21,
Sorry I didn't read your post fully before replying above.
Your cups-pdf sounds like a good idea.

Re: impossible to print tif images to pdf

I love questions like this. Assuming there is nothing wrong with your tif files try to add all of the tif files into one ie append and then convert to pdf. Out of interest I tried this with 3 tif files I created and it works, I also couldn't using tiff2pdf add multiple images as it says adding multi...

Have installed the nvidia 418 drivers from:

Code: Select all

Not seen any flickering/black flashing rectangles since, time will tell though.

Re: Possible to limit Alt scroll wheel to active monitor?

Still don't get why this is a thing as it's crazy when you have 2 or more monitors and just want to zoom in on one screen.
The other screen you are generality reading text from zooms in as well.
Just bugs me as it defeats the whole purpose of it being an accessibility feature.

Tmux running a script from boot (idiot user question).

I apologise in advance as this is probably a very stupid question. That said this is apparently the correct section to post "no question is too stupid to ask". Basically I'd like my (non gui), file server on reboot/recovery from a power cut to open an instance of tmux and have for example: java -Xmx...

Re: Solved: New install flashing window borders mint 19.1 nvidia

Fix (For me anyway): Turn off Window effects in Settings/Effects and reboot: This problem plagued the devs and a number of users, including myself, for some time. It was this problem that forced me to move away from Mint at the time KDE was dropped. The problem was so bad that Cinnamon wasn't viabl...

Re: Solved: New install flashing window borders mint 19.1 nvidia

Interesting to know. Kind of wonder since it's obviously an issue why window effects aren't turned off by default or something mentioned in the release notes. I'm saying that re the release notes which would be a mute point in my case as I didn't read them. Initially I was concerned that my gpu was ...

Try this: https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.com/p/brother-printers.html Nice guide. I just installed my brother printer on a new mint 19.1 install yesterday. My printer is a laser one, but it's the same installer script. Personally unlike the guide I find it easier to use a network cable give t...

Solved: Simple Image Reducer broken in mint 19.1

I use simple image reducer frequently. On a new install mint cinnamon 19.1 v2 the app didn't work. The fix is: sudo nano /usr/bin/simple-image-reducer (or whatever text editor you use). Replace line 28: import image with: from PIL import Image Guessing this is the same with other distros based on ub...

Re: Make Nemo Remember Tabs

So looking at what the python scripts were doing (trying to in the case of my box). I roughly interpreted that into bash.... No loops/extra text files. As with the python scripts my test script also needs xdotool and wmctrl. #!/bin/bash #Test script for using xdotool to open multiple Nemo tabs. #Don...

Re: Make Nemo Remember Tabs

I don't think you are doing much/anything wrong really. Just had a quick play with that python script (and other similar ones linked from there), got to have another look at this as I've not been able to get any to run as expected. I'm on mint cinnamon 18.3, (doubt if that would matter). Think the "...

Re: No B.S. Command line or GUI file editor?

I'll try the live CD to change the filename, but I'll bet it will refuse. How much do you want to bet? WHVW, honestly though, start again with mint 19 as you are imho making things difficult for yourself now and in the not too distant future. Not having a root user password isn't an issue as...

Re: No B.S. Command line or GUI file editor?

eu2: Can't do that, because the install is dysfunctional. That's why I need an external programme. Take care. If you boot to the original install media (for example), guessing it's some form of mint. Open the device (hard drive your install is on) with your file manager. Nemo (the cinamon file mana...
