Re: Unable to locate nvidia drivers

Using Timeshift to go back probably took less than 10 seconds and then about 15 seconds to reboot so it was rather painless. The quick start instructions at: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/blob/proton_3.7/PREREQS.md say that is all you have to do and then you are done but I can not see how ...

Re: Unable to locate nvidia drivers

I think I am going to stay as far away as possible from the terminal in the future. I've looked at the links for updating to the latest nvidia drivers and watched videos on it as well but I am guessing that they seem to leave out critical steps that need to be done. I hope updating drivers on Linux ...

Re: Unable to locate nvidia drivers

My update manager just updated and now I noticed it is showing these options: nvidia-graphics-driver-390 (which is the 390.87 driver) nvidia settings (396.54) vulkan-loader (1.1.82) Looks like it is suggesting I update to the 390.87 drivers but I am trying to update to the 396 dirvers. Edit: Would t...

Re: Unable to locate nvidia drivers

I did: sudo apt-get update and that looks like it worked correctly but then I did: sudo apt install nvidia-driver-396 and got this message: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have reque...

Re: Unable to locate nvidia drivers

So if I understand correctly then all I have to do is: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa sudo apt-get update sudo apt install nvidia-driver-396 Yes that makes sense and I wish your instructions were on that link. If they had been I probably wouldn't have had this problem. :) Now that ...

Re: Unable to locate nvidia drivers

Not sure what to do or if I need to clean things up now that those terminal commands didn't work? After you added the PPA, did you refresh your cache so it reflects newly added sources? sudo apt-get update Joe No I just used these two commands that it shows to use: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graph...

Unable to locate nvidia drivers

I am trying to install the latest Nvidia drivers but I get the warning message that it is "Unable to locate package nvidia-driver-396". I used these terminal commands: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa sudo apt install nvidia-driver-396 https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/blob/pro...

Re: Steam now lets you play Windows games on Linux

Games seem to be working fine with just the 390 drivers though I have only tested two so far with one being The Witcher 3. The screen tearing though in Cinnamon is horrible. I didn't know Cinnamon was still having issues with tearing otherwise I would have stuck with Mate. Sounds like next release ...

Audio Bug?

If I go into sound settings and increase or decrease the volume it also increases and decreases the slider for the subwoofer. Adjusting the slider for balance also adjusts the slider for fade. Re: Steam now lets you play Windows games on Linux

Anyone know if you will always need bleeding edge video drivers for using Proton? I tried using the terminal to install the latest Nvidia drivers but that was a no go and am worried about having to always wait for the drivers to be officially released before being able to use Proton. I hope that wil...

Re: Help With Timeshift Restore

Yes I thought I would be safe just clicking next as it looks like only the first option is highlighted for me. Thanks for the help and I assume that once I do the system restore the terminal commands I used that didn't work will no longer be affecting the system in any way?

[SOLVED] Help With Timeshift Restore

I was trying to install the latest Nvidia drivers for Steam Proton and I followed the instructions Steam states should be used. Also watched a video saying to do the same thing and another post stating these commands should only be used on Linux Mint 19 which is what I am using. Anyways I used these...

Update Manager Error

Re: your TOP games

American Truck Simulator or Slime Rancher when I am just looking to relax.
Mad Max when the adrenaline is pumping.
Metro 2033 and Last Light are both very enjoyable.
Portal 2 when I want to challenge my brain.
Mount and Blade Warband or Half Life 2 are also a must have I think.

Some very good points and I haven't seen that killer penguin before but here are a couple more that I always enjoyed: http://i.imgur.com/5Z4Z5m5.jpg http://pre02.deviantart.net/5f71/th/pre/f/2013/120/0/7/killer_penguin_by_dwarf4r-d63m71y.jpg They are too large to be inserted as an image. Re: Why did you switch

I thought Windows 7 was fine until Windows 10 came along which caused issues when installing some updates even after a fresh install. Never had those issues with Windows before. So I was prepared to install Windows 10 despite the negative things I had heard about it. Installing Windows 10 informed m...
