Re: Seeking a quality mouse.

Most of the comparisons on the net deal with function etc. But folks speaking up about what model they have and how long they have had it means more in this case.

Seeking a quality mouse.

For the last few years, I have cycled through quite a few wireless mice. The wheel loses function first, followed by the contacts for the left click. Both functions start to be lost around 3 months. I do tend to get lower end mice, because my fat fingers do not need the extra buttons. I need a solut...

Re: linux mint with xfce and kodi

First thing is first, Budget?

What form factor? ATX, MATX, MITX?

Brand preferance, Intel or AMD?

Old parts lying around?

I just built mine. My build is a tight wad build because I have buckets of ddr3 lying around. A expensive build would be a ddr4 build.

Re: Civilisation VI coming to Linux

The Civ series has always been a CPU hog on turn processing. I looked up the system specs for Civ6. Both my rigs are 4 core 4 thread. I do not think either will process the game very well. The video card specs are just as hungry.

Re: What is your Fav Car at this moment?

I got 3 old beasts in the shed. 49,54 and 65. The 54 is close... I cant wait. If its a fat fender pickup with a carb, brand does not matter.

Re: Civilisation VI coming to Linux

Sid once stated his AI does not cheat. He is correct. When difficulty is placed to diety, AI gets different rules. Which is not cheating. Witnessed this on Civ 3 and 4.

Re: nvidia galaxy Geforce 210 (driver problem)

Your 200 series card is in Legacy. I believe in the driver manager, one of the driver should be labeled legacy. If not then the driver labeled open source.

Re: GeForce GTX 1070 Driver Setup

On a fresh install....
Start button>System>driver manager> select 375 driver> restart.

Desktop 10 series drivers are that easy.

Re: If Linux went away, what would you use?

I chose other. I would continue to use linux as long as it worked on the hardware. An outdated linux, is more than likely still more secure than windows. Security holes can be fixed by removal of the internet.

Re: A question about LM Distros.

The video card is the real deal breaker. For intel and nvidia, 18.X is great. For AMD, stickies will explain which generation best fits the hardware. I got 17.3 on my media center pc because of AMD, and 18.1 on desktop and netbook.

Re: Happy Thankgiving Day 2017!

Ive had 2 dinners so far. Today is the "Big Game", so more obscene amounts of food will be consumed. Not to mention a fair amount of brewed beverage. A dinner to come yet again on sunday. I love our American(non-Hallmark) holidays. Food, Family and Friends.

Re: Any Carpenters by trade?

Yes the rock slabs are for support. They share a common beam spanned between them. These front rooms are the most screwed up . The load bearing walls do not sit on block, they sit next to block. For these walls they used 4- 2x8's to make header to hold the weight over the span. Needless to say those...

Any Carpenters by trade?

Any US based carpenters? Seeking some advice on span tables. Im going to be redoing some pre-1940's sections of my house floor. They are actual 2x8's 18" on center. To replace these floors and use 2x8(16" centers) will put me at the limit of 40 loads for span. Sooo.. Im, going to have to c...

GT 1030. $75 USD on Newegg. 30 watt card. Unless your mobo is so old that it has AGP slot instead of PCIE, then you have no upgrade path.

Re: How can I hide my online activities from my ISP?

What i mean by land lines are more protected is... I have posted before on a few threads a link to a US federal court ruling. This ruling stated that there is no reasonable expectation of privacy from the government on the web. This ruling leaves a large gray area for smart phones. They are computer...

Re: How can I hide my online activities from my ISP?

The Equifax hack, should be an eye opener. No matter how hard you try and be a good steward of your identity, some other organization will drop the ball. Online activities are no different. Someone, somewhere is logging. And that data can be hacked or seized. The state of the internet is such that, ...

Re: Hardware acceleration on AMD APU E-450 with Radeon HD 6320

Did you max out shared memory for the integrated video in the BIOS?
For mint 18.X your only option is the open source drivers.
For mint 17.3 you can use the FGLRX driver set with your HD6300- series.
If you have a half height chassis only, you can get a GT 1030 for $75 USD, 30W card
