it should be, one of the first screens, that you would see,
& after clicking on the Installer Icon.
Thank you. It took a bit of reading the docs, but got there in the end :)

Re: Issues replacing Mint 17 with 20

you can simply redo the LinuxMint Installation, again. and this time, use the 'something else' option in the Installer's menu. then: - select the 9Gb partition as / root and mark it to be formatted. - select the 100Gb partition as /home and don't select the format option, at all .. leave it UN-chec...

Issues replacing Mint 17 with 20

Background: I had a PC with Win8.1, on which I created a new 100Gb partition and then installed Mint 17. When booting up, I get a menu where I select Win or Linux to continue. Now I tried to replace 17 with version 20, using the live installation DVD. What I didn't know, was that went 17 was install...

Re: Help, something has really screwed up!

The honest truth is I have no idea. Turned off one night, then turned on the next day. Only thing I can think of is, I may have turned off the power before the system had shut down properly, but it's just a guess.

I'm suspecting my hard drive might have issues, and considering a whole new build.

Help, something has really screwed up!

Hi guys. I have a PC which I dual boot into either Mint or Win8.1. One day I shut down, then when I restarted both my Linux and Win users were screwed, I couldn't get either to work properly. With Windows, I eventually managed to fix the issue by creating a new user and transferring all my user data...

Re: Updates screwed up my system!

Yes, that command returned 60ish lines of stuff. I know a lot of members here are vehemently opposed to performing a dist-upgrade, but holding back the newer packages and dependencies eventually exhaust the system's capability to run. So cross your fingers and apt dist-upgrade There's no guarantee ...

Re: Updates screwed up my system!

Currently I can still get in to the OS and type commands... worse would be if I can't get in at all!

I'm not familiar with the command, that's all, so don't fully understand what it is I'm about to undertake!

Re: Updates screwed up my system!

Ok, I'll give it a try - but it definitely won't break the system completely, right?!

Re: Updates screwed up my system!

Thanks Rollo151 - I had a read through that thread, and tried the new user solution, but unfortunately it hasn't worked. Strangely, the login screen is fine, everything is normal and as it used to be with a background picture and icons that I can press. But logging in causes the crash and the blank ...

Updates screwed up my system!

Hi guys, I've been running a dual boot Linux/Win8.1 system happily for a couple of years, The other day I clicked on the updates button, and now wish I hadn't bothered! System: LinuxMint 17 Qiana, release 3.13.0-24-generic After the updates, all my windows were visually affected - I could see the wi...
