Re: What is the best type of game controller (gamepad) to use on Mint?

I apologize for not posting on here sooner as far as what progress I made on trying to get the RetroArch to work. I was able to get the regular version installed, but I can't find a spot to download the cores. I took a screenshot of the "updater page" inside the program and there isn't an...

Re: What is the best type of game controller (gamepad) to use on Mint?

I did read through some of the information on the site and on wikipedia. That emulator seems like a really good one to have, much better than ZSNES. I hope I can make it work. Do you think I should try to install the PPAs first or just try to install the program itself first? Please let me know. Th...

Re: What is the best type of game controller (gamepad) to use on Mint?

Most gamepads should work just fine. I would say getting an XBox controller probably makes the most sense, since it's fairly well supported, and since many modern games are multi-platform and designed with the XBox in mind, it's sort of a standard controller now. If you're playing old SNES games, i...

What is the best type of game controller (gamepad) to use on Mint?

Are there specific types of game controllers which work well on Linux Mint with easy to obtain drivers or software for them? I've been trying to get a controller to work with my ZSNES emulator and I haven't been successful. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. RE: https://en...

This is just me doing the opposite of ranting, A boy is now enjoying his "new" computer with fresh installed LM :D A kid within my family had his old w7 computer (Dell from 2010'ish with only 120Gb ssd), very sluggish and didn't contain anything useful (only used to play some games now an...

Re: Bad economy proves to be an unlikely ally

The latest three people who I installed Linux Mint for had one thing in common: an outdated and crippled version of Windows, but no money to buy a new PC. One earlier install was because of ransomware (and no backup of any kind). I would have loved to say that they wanted Linux because it is faster...

Yes, I've got it on my to do list to donate more to Mint. Also that's a good idea, I'll add the book to my signature on the forum! Here it is: https://www.amazon.com/How-Protect-Yourself-Your-Computer/dp/0692815465/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2OUJXLAO16S8X&keywords=how+to+protect+yourself+from+your+compute...

Re: Can't update software - Broken dependencies - Etc.

If you have Mint 19 64-bit, download libc6_2.27-3ubuntu1_amd64.deb , and open Terminal in the Downloads folder and run sudo dpkg --force-depends -i libc6_2.27-3ubuntu1_amd64.deb sudo apt -f install ... or sudo apt-get -f install The link for the package -> https://packages.ubuntu.com/bionic/amd64/l...

What is the Best and Easiest VPN for Mint?

Hello Everyone, I recently got Mint again on my newest laptop. I had been without the OS for just over a year. I'm glad to be using it again. I need to get a VPN for my computer and I'm hoping someone on this board can give me some information on where I can go to get it. I'm looking for one that's ...

....The Problem with the way Linux is marketed is thru techno-nerd geeks. People believe Linux is too complex for them to use... There is that perception by a lot of people. Re: Leaflet for counters and billboards

I think this is a good idea, but I also think there should be some type of full page or maybe half page fliers put together advertising Linux Mint. Something like this could be put together in Libre Office Draw, there could be bullet points on it highlighting the features of Linux Mint. The fliers c...

Yes, that's what you're looking for. By the way, when possible, please post text rather than screenshots. Use copy-and-paste, enclosing the text in [code] tags (the </> button above the text entry window). Thank you very much for getting back to me. Now I can begin moving on to the next steps. :D

Intergrity and Authenticity Checks? - Problem Solved

Hello All, I recently downloaded a Mint copy and ran the integrity and authenticity checks on it. I believe I did it correctly, but I'm hoping to receive some feedback on it just to make sure I didn't do anything wrong on the checks. Please review the screenshots on the links below and get back to m...
