Re: Neighbors Computer

....The Problem with the way Linux is marketed is thru techno-nerd geeks. People believe Linux is too complex for them to use... There is that perception by a lot of people. I've told a number of people about Mint over the last 5 years or so and it's like they put up a barrier to using Linux. When ...

Re: Leaflet for counters and billboards

I think this is a good idea, but I also think there should be some type of full page or maybe half page fliers put together advertising Linux Mint. Something like this could be put together in Libre Office Draw, there could be bullet points on it highlighting the features of Linux Mint. The fliers c...

Re: I've had great success installing Mint for tons of seniors/beginners in my town

Hey all, Long-time listener, first-time poster. My name is Marc, I do in-home tech support for seniors/boomers/beginners. I've been installing Mint for my clients since 2011, and they're thrilled..... 1,000 installations of Mint is a great accomplishment for sure. :D I think installing the OS on pe...

Re: Intergrity and Authenticity Checks?

Yes, that's what you're looking for. By the way, when possible, please post text rather than screenshots. Use copy-and-paste, enclosing the text in [code] tags (the </> button above the text entry window). Thank you very much for getting back to me. Now I can begin moving on to the next steps. :D

Intergrity and Authenticity Checks? - Problem Solved

Hello All, I recently downloaded a Mint copy and ran the integrity and authenticity checks on it. I believe I did it correctly, but I'm hoping to receive some feedback on it just to make sure I didn't do anything wrong on the checks. Please review the screenshots on the links below and get back to m...

jimallyn wrote:Yes, you need a 64 bit operating system. I Googled for that processor, and it apparently is a 64 bit processor, so install a 64 bit OS and you should (hopefully) be good to go.

Thank you very much for all your help. I greatly appreciate it. :D

I had a feeling that's what we were getting to. Should have asked for the inxi output sooner.

So I would need to have a Linux Mint 64 bit OS to install that wallet?

Please let me know.

Thank you.

Re: Need Help With Installing Digital Currency Wallet

OK, this is kind of a "shotgun" approach, but I'm not sure what else to try at this point. Open a terminal and enter inxi -Fxz . That will tell us a lot about your processor, your video card, your memory, your kernel, and so on. Copy and paste the output of that command to your next post. Maybe som...

Re: Need Help With Installing Digital Currency Wallet

I wonder if that file is something other than what we think it is? Try the following command from terminal: file pakcoin-qt Then post whatever output that gives you here. Hello, Thank you for following up with me. I did put that in the command line and I posted a screenshot of the result of it.

Re: Need Help With Installing Digital Currency Wallet

You shouldn't need to do anything with the rest of that stuff. Did you also try starting it from the terminal as I suggested? Usually when a program won't start from terminal, it will give error messages that may help you solve the problem. I'll think on it for a while, and maybe I'll come up with ...

Re: Need Help With Installing Digital Currency Wallet

I think that tells us that the file you downloaded is somehow not compatible with Linux Mint. Did you check in the Properties under Permissions to make sure it is allowed to run as a program? I attached a screenshot of it to this post. Do I need to chance it's "group" to another choice? The other c...

Re: Need Help With Installing Digital Currency Wallet

OK, let's try something else: right click on the pakcoin-qt file, then click Properties. Click on the Permissions tab. Look to see if the box for Allow executing file as program is checked. If not, check it. Close the Properties dialog then try double clicking the pakcoin-qt file again. If that doe...

Using Craigslist to Promote Mint

I came across an ad like this a few months ago, it seems like a good idea to get Mint on more computers: Source: http://tampa.craigslist.org/psc/sop/5855942075.html "...I'm selling the setup disc for Linux Mint 18 (32 bit). This is a full operating system which works a lot like Microsoft Windows. Li...

Re: Need Help With Installing Digital Currency Wallet

Save the PakCoin for Linux file to somewhere on your computer. (I saved it to /Progs/PakCoin.) Then navigate to it with the file browser, right click on the .zip file, and click Extract Here. pakcoin-qt will be extracted to the directory you saved the zip file in. Double clicking pakcoin-qt should ...
