Re: MyPhoneExplorer

Total Commander under Android is a* reasonable data management on the phone.
Connected to a Linux computer everything is already there... Caja, Nemo, Thunar etc. pp. - some data management can do it all by itself.

*admitted - the only reasonable one I know...

Re: Mac Users

Yes! Apple and its system means surveillance and a permanent and penetrating nanny. Like the other OS... Even on this stupid system you can run alternative web browsers and load free software like GIMP, LibreOffice, Scribus, Inkscape and many more - and they work pretty well. Does that mean beatings...

Re: BIOS update

On some devices Apple already does something like this: they call it firmware update and the affected Mac then executes very strange start sequences, partly with several reboots. Here pure Unix seems to be in the game... Some Macs ended up as garbage after this procedure - my MacBook 2009, for exam...

Yes, I know Zim is not necessarily a word processor - although I use it as a handy notepad and to filter out text formatting.
Have you tried AbiWord yet?

Re: Linux for my grandmother.

Grandma doesn't really testify: The good lady can be 50, 60, 70 or well over 90 years old... More meaningful would be: does she know anything about computers or not? If Yes: then you can discuss Linux... If No: it depends a bit on her age - if your grandmother is no longer at work I would bet on And...

Sent ahead - I'm never saddle-fast in Latin... I grew up in a non-Indo-Germanic language and always enjoyed playing off the Germanic part of my second language against the Roman. What I tried - in German: Lobet und preiset die schöne Pfefferminze auf allen Foren... Lobet und preiset is biblical Germ...

It's just a question of artificial intelligence: The computer knows exactly who pressed the power button right from the start - no problem...

Comfort and safety can occasionally be mutually exclusive... maybe - but who knows?

Re: Adding Mobile Broadband connection with script?

Is this a Android phone? NO if it is anything like my T430, it has a slot for a SIM to give you mobile broadband when all else fails. Literally just done it half an hour ago and as stated in the original post had to set up a new connection (in spite of me doing exactly the same this time last year ...

Search with Synaptic: usbcryptformat - it has a simple GUI Took a look out of curiosity. Not finding in either the 19.x or 18.x repos. Forum search turns up no mentions (except this one). Internet search turns up a deb file from 2012. Are you running this under a current version of Mint? Yes! with ...

No, even in the nVidia driver you can only set linear values, but you would need a curve or even an S curve. However you do it, at some points the values are wrong.
