Re: Mint Photographers recommend a monitor for RAW

My LG 24BK550y calibrated screen is much better than my older Eizo L768 and S1921. I also use this screen for video and photo editing. To stay with current screens that are suitable for demanding image editing: How did you calibrate your LG? What hardware (colorimeter) did you use? Under Linux Mint...

Re: Mint Photographers recommend a monitor for RAW

The disposal of the CRT's was no easy decision. But a quick look into my old CAD program was enough: once you've worked on a good 24" LCD monitor, the shaky, flickering and blurred display is only shuddering. I still have one CRT - a nice B&O Television. It sounds very good and old VHS and S-VHS vid...

... but I wonder if a good-sized CRT would be a better (and cheaper) option, if you have the space? Certainly not - the time of the cathode tube is definitely over. About a month ago I disposed of my last two 19" specimens (vintage 1998/99) in the local recycling plant. No more waddling around with...

How about a screen automatically rotating in the portrait or landscape position depending on the image  Serious, they should remove either portrait or landscape from all cameras, printers and monitors! Re: I have zero knowledge on color calibration, while watching any video the disturbance in color is so difficult to uns

Hello VYBEfromYT you're using a Lenovo laptop with an Intel graphics driver, so there's no need for advice on an external monitor. - Is the strong banding error permanently present on your monitor, even with still images, or does the banding only occur with videos? - If you move the lid of your lapt...

Re: K edu in Mint?

On a second computer with Mint Mate I installed the kdeedu package. When trying to start kwordquiz is says on top "error kwordquiz" and below it says "file not readable". On the other computer I can actually enter data as in your screenshot, but it will not let me store anything. Somehow I have to ...

Re: Resolution keeps reverting

Run xrandr in a terminal to find out the name of the port your display is connected to. Then add to your .profile file (lives in /home/you ): xrandr --output HDMI-2 --mode "1368x768" replacing HDMI-2 with the port your display is on. This will automatically set your display to 1368x768 on boot. my ...

Re: K edu in Mint?

The problem with kwordquiz in Mint Mate is, you can not store created cards/files, because it says unknown data type. There is an extra package for that file type being kvtml (or whatever they are called) files, but it does not work. https://framapic.org/sufnQ36OwIdn/hgMIM4Hd2jx2.png https://framap...

Thank you all! I have unistalled kdeedu and have given up trying to get it or kwordquiz working in Mint Mate or any other desktop manager. It seems to only work correctly on KDE, but that is out of question. Thanks again. Such a pity the metapackage kdeedu doesn't work in Mint Mate! It is so helpfu...

Re: Mint Photographers recommend a monitor for RAW

EIZO - has 5 years warranty and at least in Switzerland an extraordinarily competent representation.

A hardware calibration (with Eye One) both on a 24" EIZO CG (unfortunately not mine...) and on my 24" EIZO FlexScan showed practically no color shifts - that means the factory settings are excellent.

Hello VYBEfromYT

You have to tell something about your monitor and your computer... see > inxi -Fxz command by Moem.
The photo on imgur does not show whether it is an external monitor or the screen of a laptop.

...Then and only then I add colour by swithing from a grey colour bar to a coloured colour bar, and adjust colour level so that faces look good. There are other methods to do that which call for expensive instruments you will not have, but I won't elaborate on that. Hello Helmut I have two question...

Hello Richardj

Installing Linux Mint is a good idea...
Please have a look at this topic, it is about an Acer Netbook, technically both devices are identical.
