Re: setting keyboard (mac)

No, I have a second apple/cmd key in the place you describe. I picked out my very old white MacBook from 2006 (still with OSX Leopard...) and yes - the right ALT / OPTION key is missing though  Maybe the combination CTRL + ALT helps ? Otherwise I only found the following: http://www.experts1...

Alt Gr is the Alt key on the right side of the keyboard, next to the arrow keys (at least on my MacBook...)

Re: why tomboy notize are so complicate?

Try it with Zim... it's fast, you don't have to save every entry in a special way, you can structure your notes later in folders / subfolders with appropriate names, you can add attachments, e.g. pictures, etc...

In my opinion better than all the hilarious notepads...

Re: Linux crypto miner malware affecting Windows and macOS by running a Linux virtual machine

As far as macOS is concerned, it seems quite cleverly done. Especially the interaction with Activity Monitor is very funny: If the Activity Monitor process is running, the mining stops... It also shows that the installation of QEMU (...and Tiny Core Linux) doesn't have to be magic (try it on the off...

Re: Is an SSD worth it for an old netbook?

Hi old_noob You can try out a new SSD in your netbook or use it in a newer device or externally - so no value loss (...$20...) The question is: how much RAM has the netbook installed - there are apparently versions with 1 or 2 GB RAM. With 2 GB RAM + new SSD, you should definitely be able to run Min...

Hello otadmin What exactly are you planning to do? From medical 3D tomographies to architecture, 3D reconstructions or product design, everything is possible... @ phd21 Thank you very much for recommending Meshroom. I will have to take a closer look at that in the near future. At least it's on the h...

Gerade Firefox lässt sich ja problemlos mit allen möglichen Suchmaschinen ausrüsten.
Kennst Du etools.ch ?

Re: Can anyone recommend a good PDF editor?

This is one of those "exactly what it says on the tin" kind of threads. I need/want a good PDF editing program that I can use on linux mint. Something that's free would be preferred, but I am willing to pay for something if needed. As long as I don't have to pay for a subscription to use the progra...

With Firefox 67.0 - somewhat long waiting time, otherwise no problems.

If you use the USB thing only under Linux, you can use ukopp and format with ext4 and encrypt the stick at the same time.

... No, this is only about CC customers actually, legacy licenses are not affected for those cannot be changed retroactively. ... Sorry - that's what it's all about: if your old PowerMac dies or your hard drive gives up - you can forget your paid DVD's with the Adobe-Suite - at least officially. Th...

Re: Vuescan (pro) on offline computer

If you have the paid Pro version of VueScan, the program works offline without any problems (on one of my computers since 2009...).
Your license number will be requested if you want to install a newer version of VueScan (updates are included in the price).

Re: Audio Phantom Sound - 4 kHz + 6 kHz

How are you playing the sounds, with and through what, and what are those sounds? If pure sine waves this would be N/A but based on the title alone I initially thought of a shared harmonic at 12 kHz. Not for the other tests you mention and its anyway probably N/A but if you can provide something re...

Re: How to access Mac's public folder from Linux with an ethernet connection?

A peer to peer connection via Ethernet? So - the Mac's that still have an Ethernet connection are about 6 years old (...correct me) and - if at all - a direct connection was only possible with a crossover Ethernet cable (...correct me) - I'm talking here exclusively about Mac's and OSX. With a norma...
