Internet connection oscillating

Hello.

I am using LMDE with update pack 6 and my internet connection is oscillating. I am unable to download any file. It even happens when I try to install a packeage using synaptics.

But I can use Windows 7 without any problem. It only happens with LMDE.

Can someone help me?

Re: Language support ?

Which language input are you trying to install?

In my case, I wanted to be able to write Japanese characters so I installed ibus, anthy and ttf-kochi-mincho.

Re: LMDE XFCE ram usage at boot

lmintnewb, I agree with you.
As I said, it"s not a big deal. I'm not having any performance issue.
But it would be nice to know why this is happening. XFCE using more ram than GNOME it's not natural.

Re: LMDE XFCE ram usage at boot

Well, so it looks like it's not a hardware problem since other people are having the same problem. LMDE XFCE 64 bit is using ~190 MB at boot with barely anything running. Maybe it's a bug. I don't know. I think the devs should take a look at this problem. XFCE using more ram than GNOME, it's really ...

Re: LMDE XFCE ram usage at boot

2GB's of RAM ... ya got plenty. Is kind of a weird thing though. Could I take the chance to ask why everyone wants to get rid of pulseaudio ? Keep seeing it mentioned. Being a newb ... wondering if I should figure out how to get rid of it too. Is it a resource hog or problem child or what ? Sounds ...

Re: LMDE XFCE ram usage at boot

I'm using a 2GB ram notebook. I prefer using 64 bit because the performance is better if compared to 32 bit in this notebook. The 190 MB at boot is not really a problem. But I'm really curious to know why this is happening. I'm only have network-manager, power-manager and policy kit at startup. I ev...

Re: LMDE XFCE ram usage at boot

Couple things you can do. Assuming your xfce layout is more or less the same as mine. click the menu button ... Go to settings ... select session and startup. Uncheck the boxes beside all the programs you don't wan't/need starting at bootup. If you wan't could look up an app called bum in the softw...

Re: LMDE XFCE ram usage at boot

I can only give a guess. LMDE xfce is not totally a pure xfce, (i.e. it uses brasero instead of xfburn, gedit instead of mousepad). I am sorry if I can not give assistance in solving the problem as I really don't know anything about developing stuff for Linux sorry :( Thanks for the reply. I know t...

LMDE XFCE ram usage at boot

Hi, i currently using LMDE XFCE 64 but i noticed that the ram usage at boot is 190 MB while in LMDE GNOME 64 it was only 140~150 MB. Does anyone know why it happens and how can I solve this issue? And I also read somewhrere in the forum that the LMDE XFCE 32 use about 110 MB at boot. I find it stran...

Re: Browser recommendation

Hmmm, interesting. Having read the recommendation, I installed Midori in my LMDE, and it doesn't run at all! Installation seemed OK, I find it in the LM applications menu, but when I click on it, it says "Starting Midori" and the round whizzy thing (!) goes round and round for maybe 15-20 seconds, ...

If you want a simple dock, you can just use the panel itself as a dock.
Just use the properties to configure it.

Re: Asian fonts

Type "japanese" in synaptics and you'll find them.

For example:
ttf-sazanami-gothic
ttf-sazanami-mincho
ttf-kochi-gothic

Just install one or all of them.

And if you wanna write in japanese or chinese, install iBus and anthy.
