Mint cuts off skype and suspends

Hi All I am using Skype for/with my family frequently. Skype stops and Mint suspends during video call and is very annoying. Could be the other way round, Mint suspends and Skype being dropped. Have to start Skype again and reconnect. here the graphics: UX303LAB ~ $ inxi -G Graphics: Card: Intel Bro...

Re: Problem with inconsistent login behavior on Mint 18

When I login after being suspended it sometimes locks within a few seconds and then need to login again a second time. It did not do this at the beginning and wonder if this is a suspend-bug or a login-bug which affects different setups differently? I don't think this problem has anything to do wit...

Re: Why I still prefer Windows over Linux

I'll add a couple of lines reflecting the installing of scanner and printer on a network on Mint Sarah. For about 5 years I have worked through an OSX system and half of that time within a VM due to CAD software. It has been straight forward for most of the time. So all in all mostly I have worked t...

Re: Mint 18 and Brother scanner (Solved)

This worked for me with Linux Mint 18 x64 with Brother mfcj870dw (mfc-j870dw) connected via WiFi DHCP ....... Thanks, thanks, :D I just got it going and thought I should check the forum. Just had to find enough patience with the instructions on the brother pages. It has been a marathon to get print...

Re: Why I still prefer Windows over Linux

I think you are posting on a wrong forum, this forum is about Linux and using Linux. Linux is everywhere, in your wrist watch, in your router, smartTV, etc. Stating Linux is nowhere is extremely shortsighted. As a matter of fact you qualify as a troll. :( Don't think so. He has a very valid point t...

Re: Mint 18 and Brother scanner (Solved)

I wonder if I can hook into this after trying to setup our MFC J6910DW-scanner. It did work in the initial Sarah setup. Had to reinstall the OS and been spending countless hours since with no result. I have potentially mucked up scan related files and wonder if I should wipe the drive again and star...

Probably nothing. But why does it matter to you?
Just like a tidy boot :-)

Thanks. It still seems to start-up twice. Have you seen the grub entries? Are those looking ok?

USB mouse troubles(solved)

Hi All I have just newly installed Mint. When I switch accounts I loose the mouse. Main account-all works as it should. As soon as I have logged into the second account I loose the pointer and it is a pain to get back to the first account and no mouse there either. So with trouble I can go to start ...

Re: Back to Linux

Nice of you people! My first post on my MINT! (ASUS ZenBook UX303LA). Still have to learn lots like installing apps from exterior sources. Got my preferred browser Palemoon for a start. Now I'm looking for an email app which has the same setup like EM client. Sort of an IMAP. Seems to be a nice os!! !

Re: Back to Linux

Thank you all, nice!
I did work inside a VM for 4years on a MBP. At the moment my private laptop is intended to be Mint and I can't wait. Have downloaded the iso just haven't had time to install yet.
No doubt I'll be back here on another sub- forum :-)
