Re: USB3.0 Slow as USB2.0

Seems like the extremely slow USB connection from Linux mint is starting to damage all USB units. I can barely format a normal USB memory now and when it's used in another computer it sometimes comes up blank or doesn't mount at all. Last attempt to transfer files was at a speed less than 1mb/s. See...

Re: U3-tool smart drive CD removal

Okay I think I know what the problem is now. https://techcrunch.com/2010/11/05/review-iomega-usb-ego-1tb-external-hard-drive/ Iomega decided to put some windows encryption mallware on their unit in a way that it can never be removed. This irritates the hell out of me and it is also a reason for me t...

Re: USB3.0 Slow as USB2.0

Just made a new test. Formated a usb3 sandisk in ntfs and benchmarked it. Write speed went up from 6 to 11mb/s Then I transfered 4+gb of pictures and files, normal sizes, no movies or big fies. Nothing bigger than normal digital camera size. At first it actually was really fast, looked like real USB...

Re: USB3.0 Slow as USB2.0

Im not really concerned about the benchmarking tests. It is the day to day use of USB that is really slow that's the problem. Especially when setting up new systems and transfering a lot of data from old systems. Transfering files from my internal 2nd HDD to a newly formated fat32 usb3 stick right n...

Re: USB3.0 Slow as USB2.0

disks, manage drivers. Benchmark. This is not a question about the USB sticks, they function as expected in windows computers. In fact I think that my 10+ years old laptop with ubuntu from 2011 and xp on dual boot is faster with the usb, even thoguh it doesn't have usb3 ports. I'll do a benchmark on...

Re: Nemo Super Slow in Transferring files

Are you using a virus scanner? This may be slowing down things, as in the past once happened to me. Hope this helps... Pretty sure there's no virus scanner in action. Getting rid of the virus mallware programs is one of the biggest reasons to use Linux. So I really hope that there's no virus scanne...

Re: Nemo Super Slow in Transferring files

I don't have a lot of data to give you, but it is my belief it is the driver implementation for the USB 3.0 chip. And the whole thing is, if USB 3.0 bogs down on file transfers, what good is it? Keyborards, mice and even a lot of printers work just fine on USB 1.1 or 2.0. If Nemo is giving you trou...

Re: Nemo Super Slow in Transferring files

Gents, If you can gather as much info as possible and raise a bug report, this would be really useful to all of us. I know USB can be incredibly slow when transferring lots of little files - could that be part of the problem some of you are facing if Mint queues all the little files last maybe? Tha...

USB3.0 Slow as USB2.0

All USB3.0 devices benchmark at 30mb/s Mint mate 18 sarah Asus F550JK definitely with usb3.0 ports. Is this a matter of drivers? Is it a matter of some software that is compressing the data? I don't know but it feels like the system think that it is USB 2.0 And it seems like there are thousands of p...

Re: Nemo Super Slow in Transferring files

Yes me too.

Tried 3 USB 3.0 sticks and 1 USB 3.0 external drive.

I have benchmarked my internal ssd and internal hdd and they are arround 400 and 100 mb/s

All USB drives are arround 30mb/s

Feels like there should be a way around this somehow.

Re: U3-tool smart drive CD removal

I even tried the trick in Windows, to remove that Iomega_CD malware, but it didn't work.
I got a message saying it was something something protected and there was no further options around it.

This is seriously pissing me off.

Re: extremely slow file copy to USB

I see that this post is still not solved. And it is the only one I can find on the subject. It's difficult to find any other threads about this subjects since the search engine ignores words with less than 4 characters. USB 3.0 has to be written USB3 to crate a 4 character word and thus this is the ...

Re: [Solved] No permission for mounted hdd.

I marked this topic as solved. Since I can mount and unmount and use the 2nd HDD now. The only thing I'm not sure about is what will happen if I remove the 2nd drive, will he system be unable to boot, due to some lost mount point? At this state I do not dare to use fstab and ad anything without know...

Re: No permission for mounted hdd.

Also can I in this state use a comand that will stop the hdd from auto mounting at boot? I gave you the answer to that previously - add noauto to the fstab line. I was so happy about the new comand opening fstab, that I didn't noticed that there was one extra word in the command line that I was sup...

Re: No permission for mounted hdd.

Okay, so I made a clean reinstall. I can use the 2nd HDD now. I used the guide I got from austin.texas and I used a disk tool to label it HDD. (to make it simpel) I never got to the fstab, and I mounted it manually. All I did in the terminal was basically taking ownership of the HDD I did use the co...

Re: No permission for mounted hdd.

I just wanted to delete lost and fouind since I didnt understand the purpouse of it and don't want unused folders in my system. Yes I got information about how to stop it from automounting but I didn't ad noauto to the fstab line at that moment. (if-ed up) Yes and I created those folders with that c...
