Re: Unclean file system question!

Thank you for the help catweazel. I unmounted and re-mounted the drive and it seems to have been successful. I've added the terminal output below just to confirm all is OK. chris@chris-mint:~$ lsblk NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT sda 8:0 0 256.2G 0 disk ├─sda1 8:1 0 512M 0 part /boot/efi └─...

Unclean file system question!

Everything went great last night with my dual boot but when I re-booted back into Windows it still thought it had the full space of the drive, some applications didn't work and when I attempted to boot back into Mint I had issues there too - telling me to manually load a kernel or something. Very fr...

Re: Drive selection issues...

Thank you for the prompt responses.

I tried a simpler method and disabled my 6TB drive (SATA1) in the BIOS. When I attempted again, the SSD was recognised and installed fine.

Tomorrow I'll learn some more.

Drive selection issues...

It's been three years since I last gave up but this time I'm determined to install Mint and stick to it. I've got two physical drives in my system, an SSD that contains my Windows 10 install and a 6TB drive with my data. I'm looking tonight to install Mint on the SSD alongside Windows 10. I've boote...

Re: Newbie Question

It might be helpful to have some information. First, what is the website that locks up your computer? Second, it might be good to know a little about your computer. Open a terminal and enter inxi -Fxz and copy/paste the output in your next post. Sadly tonight a number of times the machine has locke...

Re: Newbie Question

Thanks, I've been able to go between TTY and GUI as described. However I ended up frozen and stuck again - I've found a website (Car sale website) when I do a search on there the whole UI (cursor excluded) locks up. I tried "pkill chrome" but it makes no difference. What would be the recommended way...

Re: Newbie Question

Thank you Cosmo - I will try these tonight.

What makes it behave this way? Do the function keys represent different workspaces and the arrow keys are representing a physical layout of them? It would be helpful to understand that.

Newbie Question

Good Day All! Like many here I'm new to both Mint and Linux in general and looking to learn a little. I'm writing a blog post about how much value you can get out of older hardware running Mint and taking the opportunity to learn while I'm at it! I have a number of questions about sources, why we ha...
