Re: Preparing for Mint to drop the KDE distro
I spoke too soon. Neptune is as bad as the others. I've given up and will switch to Mint xfce until Kubuntu decides to put something out that actually works. @BubbaBlues, I was happy to read your first post about Neptune. It looked promising, and I'm just starting to look at it. So far, it s...

Re: Preparing for Mint to drop the KDE distro
I've tried almost all of the KDE options. I have a few requirements. It has to be based on Deb. No Arch or RPM. It has to boot. (it's amazing how many won't) And it has to work well out of the box. (that eliminates most KDE distros) But I believe I've found it with Neptune. So far it hasn't given me...

Re: Who no longer trusts or uses Facebook?
Making it about politics only appeals to a small portion of the population and causes the opposite politically leaning people to just shrug their shoulders all the while issues of privacy affects ALL people. Also, making it about politics would have made it off limits as a subject of discussion for...

Re: Who no longer trusts or uses Facebook?
I never trusted them and my loathing of suckerburg deepens every day. Their blatant political bias is bad enough, but then lying
about it and expecting people to believe them? He thinks we're all stupid.
I'll leave it at that, although I could write five pages on reasons I hate Facebook.

Re: Why oh Why can't we make Linux better looking
I've read good things about manjaro too. Then I tried it while looking for a KDE replacement to Mint (there is no replacement btw). I was less than impressed, but in all fairness, I can't stand arch or any spawn from it. There is no replacement for .deb package management either. I don't know, maybe...

Yes a couple of days ago. I'll try updating with the terminal and see if it helps.

Problem with Synaptic
Can someone tell me what this means and how to fix it? This happens a lot when I install something and then whatever
was installed won't open.

Re: Why oh Why can't we make Linux better looking
I figured I try Mate because xfce was giving me too many problems. I gotta say I'm liking it! Mate has changed a lot in the last couple of years and the Cairo dock seems to be working great. I just might be in love again. :D Screenshot at 2018-08-05 19-16-55.jpg Nice desktop. I tried Cairo and is v...

Re: Why oh Why can't we make Linux better looking
The reason I love KDE so much is because it is so easy to configure every aspect with a gui. There are literally thousands of different theme choices and window decoration choices. It can be as bland as xfce or ten times more flashy than windows or Mac. The system settings has everything... and it w...

Re: Why oh Why can't we make Linux better looking
I'd like to see them drop mate and focus on KDE. But that ain't happening either. It's a shame though because they are so far ahead of everyone else with KDE they could dominate the kde world. They kinda already do. I seriously believe that's why Mint has been in the numero uno position at Distrowat...
