Re: High CPU usage, high temp, fans on full speed
I am quite new to linux as a whole and not sure if what I say will help you. One thing you can try is to reset the cinnamon desktop either by Ctrl+Alt+Esc keys or right clicking the task bar -> Troubleshoot - > Restart Cinnamon. Usually, if cinnamon shows a high CPU usage in 'top', this seems to help.

Re: Why can't I play some 4k youtube content?
Not sure if I can help as I'm no expert in Linux.
Since you're using Cinnamon, try CTRL+ALT+L combination to reset the cinnamon desktop without destroying anything that is running.

Re: 3D acceleration Virtualbox no longer working
My setup that works with some workarounds. VB 5.2.42_Ubuntu r137960 LM 19.3 Tricia running Cinnamon Software rendering In this config, VB does allow Win guest to have 3D acceleration. Once loaded, I do a CTRL+ALT+L to reset cinnamon (also SUPER+L+reset) After doing the reset cinnamon, I have 3D work...

[SOLVED] Need help with HP1212 single function printer
I have this working single function deskjet printer that works with Win. I was trying to move it to LM19.3 The printer is detected as a HP1200 class printer and installs without complaint. However, anything I print, it blinks the power light like it is busy and acknowledged, but ends up saying 'prin...

Re: 3D acceleration Virtualbox no longer working
I have the same problem that seemed to heal itself once in a while when I did some changes to the VB settings. I have a WinXP guest running in VB on LM19.3 Tricia with i915 graphics. I try to run a program that uses Direct3D rendering. That program inevitably always fails with Cinnamon running a nor...

Re: Browser slowed in old user account. Fresh user account ok
After a lot of watching top and searching for clues, I found a post that hinted at use of Ctrl+Alt+Esc to reduce the high CPU usage of cinnamon which seemed to be the issue in the troubled user account. The post said this was a bug and seemed to help the original poster. After I tried this, I see th...

Re: Browser slowed in old user account. Fresh user account ok
Thank you ThaCrip.
I did not say specifically that my problem is with the Linux User account - not the browser profiles (sorry for using the wrong term here)
Creating a new user account and using the same set of browsers gives superior results.

Re: android to linux connection file sharing
On my android file manager software, I have a FTP option. Selecting that, I can connect to the phone via the WiFi connection on a port selected in the file manager. The phone has to be sharing the same WiFi access point for this to work. So, all I need to do on LM is to open the file manager and tel...

Re: Direct3D not available to virtualbox guest
I appreciate your responses and wonder if it is something to do with maybe a driver mode that is not being reported as available to VBox? My reasoning is below. I could be wrong, but I own a laptop that has a similar processor and it runs fine with LM18.3 Sylvia and VBox showing Direct3D acceleratio...

Re: dbus error while mounting local drives
Thanks Wharfrat.
That seemed like a glitch which happened just once. Things are working normally after logout-login cycle. Just wanted to know if it was a cause for concern like failing memory / whatever. Never happened before.

dbus error while mounting local drives
Greetings I got this error while mounting my local internal drives. On logging out and back in to my user account, I was able to access the drives once more. Re: System temporarily freezes for around 30 seconds
appreciate your reply. However, once the freeze happens, audio usually plays the last segment that was playing in a loop something like la-la-la-la-......... ad-infinitum till it comes out of the freeze. During that time, mouse does not move, keyboard is unresponsive, can do literally nothing. Wonde...

Re: Chrome Freezing After Recent System Update
Going to the second tab and back to the original unfreezes for a while before it happens again. When it refreezes, you need to do it again to unfreeze.
