what do you have listed in Plugins in the File Manager for extensions then? Preferences is under the Edit menu. There is another factor here, if the icon theme you are using is one you downloaded elsewhere it may not support different colours. Holy sh.... You're right. I was using Papirus icon pack...

I have the Folder Color Switcher extension but in the right clic menu I haven't colors to pick (imagine exaclty your menu without the color row)

I have it but it works to change folder colors in Mint Themes, not for a specific folder

Thanks but in linux mint 20.3 there's no option to change color by clicking right mouse button, in the menu it doesen't appear as I had instead in Mint 18.3.

I wonder if there's a way to change a single folder colour.

I had the same issue after update from 4.10.0-42 to 4.13.0-26 (Cinnamon crash)
I Installed 4.4.0-109, rebooted and removed 4.13 and 4.10. All fine here.

If used wisely (cache, thumbnails, temp) it isn't too dangerous. The important is not to use any tool avalaible if you don't know what it does.
