My current workaround:
Getting manually down to this directory
/run/user/1000/gvfs/mtp:host=Xiaomi_ATOLL-AB-IDP__SN%3A16B6D31E_5f6a2752
actually works.
Alternatively, I can put the path directly into the path box at the bottom of the DC screen.
Not as expected, but working.

Re: Need recommendations for non-technical people to use easy GUI file sharing on mixed wired and wireless network
Get WLAN and LAN devices to use the exact same (sub)network.
Simple as that.
It all just boils down to network/router setup.
Usually, there is an option to activate/deactivate seperation/visibility of devices at the router setup settings. Find & fix it.

System finally boots up into Desktop again.

Re: GUI does not start (after upgrade 19.3 -> 20)
The one and only issue I have, is the system not calling lightdm (Desktop) from the boot sequence.

Re: GUI does not start (after upgrade 19.3 -> 20)
Are you serious?
Installing a fresh Mint 20 and then reverting it back to 19.3 via timeshift doesn't seem to make any sense to me.
Let alone all the lost additional software I customized my system with, which would have to be installed all over again.

Re: LM20 stuck on boot
Got a somewhat similar issue. My laptop boots without issue to console #1 login prompt. But it's rather expected to boot right to the Desktop (GUI) login. I can start the GUI by $> sudo service lightdm start easily and everything seems to be OK. Just can't figure out how to get it to boot to Desktop...

[SOLVED] Ethernet (LAN) emulation over a USB-WLAN device seems broken
Upgraded from Mint 18.3 Cinnamon to Mint 19.1 Cinnamon two weeks ago. It all went smoothly but I found two broken things just yesterday. Not sure, if it's really a problem of the upgrade, though.
