A quick thank you!

I just wanted to take a second and thank Clem and all of the Linux Mint devs (most of whom I am not familiar with) for their work. I have dabbled with Linux for many years, but until I ran into Mint I had not found what I could use as a daily driver. Been on Mint since 17 and it works great for me. ...

Re: Whats everyone currently listening to?

Nightwish. I am traditionally a metal guy, but the US metal scene has been plagued for years with terrible vocalists. Ran across this band about a year and half ago by accident. I was intrigued by their ability to incorporate a variety of styles into their music. Took me a while to get used to havin...

Re: (SOLVED)..Thankyou.....Mint 19 and Epson Perfection V33

Glad it worked for you. While I, myself, have dabbled with Linux for a number of years I have only begun to use it seriously for about the last two. I am usually hunting around looking for solutions myself, so its nice to be able to give one for once.

Re: Mint 19 and Epson Perfection V33

To create the udev rule mentioned you need only create a text file called 79-udev-epson.rules in /etc/udev/rules.d. You can do this with the nano text editor by opening a terminal and entering this sudo nano /etc/udev/rules.d/79-udev-epson.rules Then copy in the following and save and reboot. # chmo...

One other note, pretty sure you need to reboot after implementing those.

Re: Mint 19 and Epson Perfection V33

Had a similar issue on Mint 19 with my Epson Perfection V600. The fixes in this thread helped me (specifically the creation of the relevant symlinks and udev rule.)

Re: Looking for a NAS with awesome Linux Mint support.

Thought I would chime in given that I recently switched to a Synology NAS after running a standard pc with Ubuntu server. This was not a necessary move on my part, I just find the Synology easier to maintain than my previous setup. Synology does have .deb files available for most of their desktop ap...

Re: Vmware player doesn't save/show any virtual machine on linux mint.

So far as I know that is the case with version 14. I had run an older kernel for some time to keep running version 12. However, I am running a Windows 10 guest pretty infrequently and ultimately just upgraded the kernel as well as vmware player and use a link to the vmx file until it is fixed.

Re: Vmware player doesn't save/show any virtual machine on linux mint.

I have had the same issue ever since upgrading to vmware workstation player version 14. Version 12 did not have this issue, but I could no longer get it to run after kernel updates for spectre/meltdown. There are others on the vmware forums that have the same problem, but there have been no updates ...

Re: Any way to transfer files to and from a Samsung Galaxy S7?

Had fits getting my S7 to work as well. Not entirely sure at exactly what point it started working, but I did go through the developer procedure described by nanners. All I know now is that making sure the phone screen is unlocked when I connect it seems to allow it to work.

Re: 18.1 Disappearing Desktop Icons

In my case I have one monitor connected via DVI and one through HDMI. The only option that worked consistently was to choose to show icons only on the non-primary display, in this case the DVI connected monitor. Anything else and icons were lost at logout.

18.1 Disappearing Desktop Icons

I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing issues with desktop icons that go missing with Cinnamon in 18.1. I believe this is likely limited to multi-monitor users. Initially I thought this might be an issue with the nvidia driver, but I can replicate this when booting with the live image and u...

Hello and Thanks

Finally getting around to joining the forum. Have been using Mint for about a year. I have played around with other distros for a number of years (Red Hat, Mandrake, Suse, Debian, Fedora, Ubuntu and Gentoo) but still consider myself to be a newbie in many regards. Mint has proven to be the best fit ...
