Thanks Richard, I will. New SSD going into Lappy this PM, so will play with Waterfox after that.
The waterfox version at the moment is 56.1.0 so a couple behind FF.

Re: How to create ISO with legacy Firefox?

FF Quantum is also, to me, a disaster. Many of my most useful add ons no longer work. Some are trying to adapt, but the system is not as open as it once was. TabMixPlus was one of my favourites, and it has yet to return to it's former glory. I also used a password manager that would automatically f...

Re: How to create ISO with legacy Firefox?

Waterfox is another alternative and is based on FF. I've been using it for some time now and the good thing is that the dev hasn't gone down the same route as FF and blocking some add ons.

Re: New PC

Thanks very much for the info. I'd forgotten how annoying widows 10 is with it's pop up ads that can't be disabled, so right at this moment I'm thinking to do away with windows and just have mint mate. The drive is a 1TB will this give any problems with the install and the day to day running of mint...

Re: New PC

Thank you for all your reply's so far. I have just been reading about mint mate 18.3 and unless I have read it wrong there is no need to turn off fast boot and secure boot. Notes: The 64-bit ISO can boot with BIOS or UEFI The 32-bit ISO can only boot with BIOS. The 64-bit ISO is recommended for all ...

New PC

About 2 weeks ago my trusty PC of 12 years decided it had had enough and went out in style, several load pops and lots of smoke, so here I am with a brand new PC. New PC specs are as follows: OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Pro Version 10.0.16299 Build 16299 Other OS Description Not Available OS Manufa...

Re: Mate has resized itself

Go to Menu/Preferences/Display and see what your resolution is. That might be your issue. Strange that it would resize itself though. Normally it should autodetect your monitor and set the right display for it. Let me know if changing the resolution works for you. First thing I checked was the disp...

Solved (for now)Mate has resized itself

Hi all,
Just booted up mate and it's changed the size of everything, from desktop icons to icons in programs ect ect. I'm guessing it's to do with the graphics card, if it is where and how do I change things back to how they were?

Many thanks
Richard

Re: Printer installation

I am embarrassed to have to admit that I obviously do not have the skill required to install the printer. My hopes of replacing Windows 10 with Linux hereby scuppered. Don't give up, keep asking and I'm sure you'll get the printer up and running. It took me a while to sort out my canon printer with...

Re: Printer installation

Thanks Richardj, went to the Canon site you gave and downloaded the appropriate driver, I think. Then went to "How to install". Got to double-click on cnijfilter - common.spec which led to such a complex list of stuff which was utterly beyond this 81 year old. I have also been back to trying to ins...

Re: Printer installation

Canon do a Linux Printer driver for most of there printers. Re: canon printer ip7250 - most of the printing is transparent

I have just booted from a cinnamon live CD and there are two ways to get to printers.

1: Menu > administration > Printers. As seen in the attachments below.

2: Menu > System Settings > Hardware > Printers.

Sorry I use mint mate so it is a bit different. I think it's under menu>administration, on the right you should see printers.
