Re: wired or wireless mouse

Thanks for the replies. Batteries were my first thought so changed them for a brand new pair and checked the connections in the battery compartment, didn't help. Can't get on with the wired mouse I'm using so went back to another wireless mouse I have laying around and at the moment it is behaving i...

Re: Hello from the UK

Hello and welcome, I'm also from the UK. I jumped from windows 10 a few months ago and although I still have win 10 in a dual boot Linux Mint Mate is my preferred OS now. I have found programs for linux that are close to the programs I used on win 10 so that's me happy. I use WPS office as a posed t...

Re: Power management

Hi, Can you check in BIOS that there is an ACPI option and whether it is turned on or off. Try the (un)/ticking it depending on what is chosen at the moment. That would be interesting to know. Don't suppose you ever had another OS on that computer did you? Did the same happen? Hi, I dual boot with ...

Re: Samsung Galaxy S7 Google Lock

Yes, Lex, I am well aware that this has nothing directly to do with Linux which is why I put it in "Other Topics". Indirectly, however, there may have been a Linux hack or patch to let me in the "back door", so to speak. Thanks for the link, Richard, the link only confirms all that I have experienc...

Re: Samsung Galaxy S7 Google Lock

Does any one know of a reliable way to get around this? Backstory: I lost my phone some months back. Surprisingly enough, It got found and was returned to me. Given the time that had passed I performed a "Hard Reset" (vol up, home, and power refresh) opting to reset to factory specs. This turned ou...

Re: Linux Mint 19.2 “Tina” MATE released!

Is the new release of mate a full version or a beta, just want to make sure before I tell update manager to install it Betas never appear in the update manager. So by virtue of it appearing in the update manager, you can be sure that it's the stable version. I did think that was the case but wanted...

Re: LM 19 Canon MG5650 scanner not found, printer OK

This is one of several threads about problems with Mint 19.x seeing printers but not scanners. The most frequent response seems to be a recommendation to install the relevant scanner-drivers if available (Canon scangear, Epson, Brother, whatever). Maybe that does offer a solution: quite a few threa...

Today the kernel was updated To what? Don't shutdown with the power button, use the REISUB method: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_SysRq_key and how to fix it please. You can use your previously working kernel. To see errors, try these: dmesg systemd-analyze blame systemd-analyze critical-chain...

Re: Canon MG6250

Your printer should be listed under "Printers" in the Setting Panel It is, but thought it would be nice to have it in the menu along with the scanner. I have not figure out that myself yet don't think it can be done About 2 years ago when I was last using mint mate I'm 99.9% certain I added both to...
