wi-fi fixed address

I keep getting bumped off late at night, and need to reboot the pc and modem. Wonder if I can set a fixed ip address for my desktop pc. Can't seem to find the settings for it in networking.

THANX

Re: 19.1 new install, finds 2 identical wireless adapters

Probably right. Thought that might be the issue.

Are there any cheap USB WiFi adapters that run out of the box with Mint?

Re: 19.1 new install, finds 2 identical wireless adapters

I turned the WiFi button off so I could screenshot the two adapter names.

When WiFi is enabled both adapters become ungreyed and find all the available networks. (Won't fit in a screenshot) Selecting either one and attempts to log on the panel network icon just goes round and round.

Re: 19.1 new install, finds 2 identical wireless adapters

When I enable one the other also does. Then can't log in.

I've used 2 other bootable Linux OS DVD's that show the exact same networking adapters.

Thanks.

I did not get the .deb file from there. Burt it worked and also got the proper dependencies. The file I originally used only told mme what was missing.

I've got the Artha .deb file but it needs Wordnet. Running new install on Asus 900 netook to use for writing. Mint 18.1 32bit.

Can't find it in software manager? Or Synaptics? Thought it was included in MINT?

Re: Installer encountered error copying files to hard disk

Installed from USB live as full erase and use entire drive. I'm starting to believe that the drive is write protected and I can't figure out how to remove that. I'm not too familiar with gparted but the options to remove or format the HD partitions did nothing. Any ideas?

Re: Installer encountered error copying files to hard disk

update;

looks like I can copy files from the HD after I mount it but cannot copy anything to it. Permission denied.
Possibly the whole drive is write protected? Just guessing here.
