Re: ASUS X99-A/USB3.1
Wonderful. I have built some computers in the past, at the time when we still manually had to set jumpers etc. ;-) For now, ASUS has offered me an RMA, so I will see what they do. It was clearly their wrong instructions which caused the problem. They gave me a diagram of where to insert the USB for ...

ASUS X99-A/USB3.1 <SOLVED>
My ZaReason computer was built with this mobo. Other details are in my sig. Have been running LM since early 2017 when I got the machine (I think it was V18.1 at the time). Most recently, I was running 20.3, but had upgraded online, not by reinstalling, and it was working fine. When my SSD crashed a...

Re: Install Linux Mint 21.1 from USB stick <SOLVED>
THANKS. Marked this solved now. I had this machine working on 20.3 before, but that was via online upgrades, not reinstalls. In this case, my ssd failed, and I wound up having to reinstall from scratch and that did not work. Then the bios upgrade was indicated, and I think the flash froze the Mobo, ...

Ok one step at a time.
Bios upgrade is marked beta, and comes as a .cap file. No idea what to do with it.

Re: Install Linux Mint 21.1 from USB stick
thanks. After a lot of experimentation, this problem has morphed a bit. what do you like to know about my system besides what is in my signature? I am installing the 21.1 from USB. I never get far enough to be able to select compatibility mode. It hangs after the first b&W LM logo. However, Besi...

Warble <SOLVED>
I cannot fine any instructions or contact information anywhere for this program. I run into situations where words do not exist in warble, but I have no idea how to add words to its dictionary. Is it using a dictionary that is on my system? In which case it should be possible to add words. I literal...

Re: Dragon HS-Gen-25 Logitech H570e - PAVU?
Dragon has been horrible for support. Will only entertain support for use with their own software. Meanwhile I have switched to a Logitech H570e, and I am able to make the headset work but not the microphone. I am going to have to try it on a Windows machine. My main problem was echo, so I can now s...

Dragon HS-Gen-25 not recognized - PAVU ???
I seem to be having a feedback problem with video conferences, and I can minimize it by turning down my speakers, but at some point then I have trouble hearing the other party, etc. So I got a dragon HS-GEN-25 headset, and tried to plug it in. I do see it pop up in PAVU, but I am not able to get it ...

Re: Converting data in a text string to spreadsheet data
Eventually, it actually went off into a private discussion off of the LiberOffice user group
The solution was more efficient outside of LibreOffice, first parsting the .txt file into a .csv and then to go into Libre Office and do the rest.

Re: Detecting MicroSD - Mint 20.3
Right, to a degree. At least I can work with the external card reader, Next time I open the machine I can try to figure out if anything is wrong with that hookup, for the device per see appears "live."

Converting data in a text string to spreadsheet data [SOLVED]
I use a scientific instrument which stores data on MicroSD.
The resulting text file is really a long string of data,
Var1: valuie1 Var2: value2... VarZ: valueZ
I want to convert these textstrings into spreadsheet data rowes/columns
What is the best way to do the conversion?

yeah, it's built into the machine, I just never used it till now. Now I have a scientific instrument that downloads a history to a micro SD. A light comes on when I insert the microSD. But nothing shows up anywhere that I can see. Would it not simply show up as a volume, just like an USB memory stic...

Detecting MicroSD - Mint 20.3
I have a MicroSD reader in my machine, but it does not show up not even when I plug in a MicroSD card. Then I tried again with a plug-in USB card reader and I cannot see the MicroSD card that way either, although the device lights up, to say it is detecting the card. what's to do, or how do I work a...
