Re: Unable to print jpeg file at correct size.

The problem I'm now having is that I've scanned an Image using GIMP 2.8.22 and Xsane and then edited the image and saved as a jpeg. In Image->Scale Image the dimensions are Width 11.997 cm and Height 24.003 cm. X and Y resolutions are both 300 dpi. In Image->Print Size the values are identical to t...

Re: How do I write Spanish in Linux Mint 19.1?

Yes, we are talking about two very different things here. One is how to load the driver for a keyboard with Spanish keys and layout and a very different one is to generate Spanish characters using a regular American keyboard.

Re: Mp4s and AVIs are executable by default = harmful code?

While someone more knowledgeable comes along .... I believe Linux knows little to nothing about extensions and imported files are marked as executable by default. You just need to disable it for each file. In any case I do not think this is cause for concern. If the file is truly a video file then i...

... you can go to preferences, keyboard and choose US international with dead keys.
I use "US international with dead keys" with a regular American Keyboard and it works but it is annoying because it does not work like "US international" works in Windows which I like better.

Re: Notre Dame de Paris: a tragic loss for mankind

It is ironic. Now funds will flow for its reconstruction but up until now they were having great difficulty finding enough for the renovations which were ongoing. All over Europe there are plenty of monuments falling apart due to neglect and the public only becomes interested when something like thi...

Re: Extract RGB values via Terminal?

It seems to me the simplest and most accurate way of defining the color would be to get colors on cards (like RAL swatches) and match them by eye. Do this with each color, one by one, as you need them.

Re: Google Earth & Nvidia video problems

Is that likely to resolve the issue? How risky is it? I would hate to make matters worse. Especially if I am left with a non-working system. How would I do it? What driver should I look for and how? Is it the case that I am using some generic Linux driver? Why wouldn't Linux automatically install th...

Re: Extract RGB values via Terminal?

I think this is more complex than it may appear at first sight. I do not think a regular scanner and a regular monitor will suffice or even come close. Look at the images you posted. Each thread has many different pixels depending on light, shade, angle, etc. People who work with colors professional...

Re: Extract RGB values via Terminal?

I have the catalogue so I can output the scanned picture to JPG (compressed) or PNG (loseless) according to Simple Scan. I think I would prefer PNG. Depending on the compression used you will get different results. A regular photograph will have tens of thousands of different individual colors. If ...

I don't know how to check it on my computer using the Terminal.

Yeah, with this being the Linux Mint forums and all I would assume the "Terminal" here is referring to Linux Mint and not any other OS, but that is just me.

Re: Question about encryption (Android)

Hello! Your topic has been moved out of the 'Main Edition Support' because it's not about Mint, but about software for Android. Good luck! Unless I am mistaken the question is "how do I verify a file's PGP signature using Linux?". That the file is X is not material to the question being asked. At l...

Re: Windows Update Nixes Mint

This is a story often heard. I do not understand why people insist in setting up two OS on the same drive when it is so liable to give problems and if the drive dies you are doubly screwed. The cost of disk space these days is so low that it is not worth trying to save a penny. Just install each OS ...
