How do I mess with someone on my wireless network?

My brother-in-law lives in our garage and I can't kick him out (yet). He refuses to contribute anything to the household. All he does is sit in the garage and play games on the internet. What can I do to ban his devices from our wireless network, throttle his connection, make his connection less rel...

Caja sound preview won't quit

LMDE2, Mate, 64-bit.
Caja 1.18.3

I usually disable sound preview, but I didn't this time. I moused over a music file, causing the preview to start. It's been looping ever since.

I said I use laptops, not tablets. This is a touchpad:

Occasional xsession-errors on login

Once every 10 or so logins I get an error that my session lasted less than 10 seconds, and that I should check ~/.xsession-errors. Here's the output of .xsession-errors: /etc/mdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup... localuser:person being added to access control list I: Script for none started at ru...

Re: X-app idea: fork Kcalc

I need a calculator with an excellent programming mode (switch between bases), and gnome-calculator is much slower. I'm on a laptop with a touchpad, so I prefer to click on something and then use the keyboard to navigate, but you can't switch between modes in gcalc - you have to mouse and click arou...

Re: Mate Panel Applets?

I think it has something to do with transparency or not using the default system colors. It only does that when I change those settings on mate-panel.

I removed libre office when I recently installed LMDE2, and I think that removed a few python packages. They may be related to this.

X-app idea: fork Kcalc

Kcalc is my favorite calculator ever since Gnome went the touchscreen route, but it has one little problem: dependencies. Size: 61MB to download, 149MB of disk space required Impact on packages: The following packages would be installed: libkde3support4, ntrack-module-libnl-0, libkrosscore4, libgpgm...

Mate Panel Applets?

I did something and now a few of them don't appear on boot. I get an error message and I have to manually add them to the panel each time. I think maybe I deleted a configuration file somewhere. What are they called, where are they stored, and where are their configuration files stored?

Re: How to disable auto-maximize?

Side by side tiling doesn't bother me, but if I drag a window up against an edge and keep dragging, it maximizes. These seem like they should be two different settings.

Issue with apt-get install -f

I was trying to install dependencies to build VBA-M because the VBA that exists in the repos doesn't recognize my usb controller and the VBA-M debs I installed crashed. When I ran cmake it told me I needed wxWidgets, so I added wxWidgets by following the instructions on their site. One of the depend...

Everything seems to automaximize if I brush up against an edge and keep pushing. This is not what I want to happen, how do I turn it off?

How can I prevent a list of recently used files from being made?

I think there's a file made in ~/.local/share that contains a list of recently used files. How can I prevent this from being made?
