Re: Spotify

Thank you, Shiratori! What does the interface look like in Linux? Different from the usual? Is it convenient to use it? Can I use it for free or do I need to pay in the future? It looks pretty much identical to the Windows version. https://i.ibb.co/gP1gF64/Screenshot-from-2020-01-02-16-26-55.png

Re: Monthly News – December 2019

First, I noticed some of you regretted the removal of keyboard shortcuts in Cinnamon’s grouped window list. When we removed this feature, we assumed it wasn’t discoverable and so very few people were likely to use it. It looks like we were wrong, so we’ll bring this feature back. Thanks for the nic...

Re: [SOLVED] win+number don't work in mint 19.3 for open pinned apps

There's a Cinnamon update in Update Manager right now that restores the missing functionality. Nice fast turnaround by the developers. :D

[SOLVED] Super + number keys for panel icons

I've just done a clean install of 19.3 on a brand new SSD. On my old 19.2 setup I was able to launch/switch apps that I'd pinned to the panel using the super + number keys, the same way it works in Windows (it's a quite useful feature when you're used to it). Is there a setting that I've missed or h...

Re: Laptop won't enter standby

It's not a problem with the lid as it has the same behaviour when putting it into standby from the start menu.

Re: Laptop won't enter standby

Shiratori, are you using Cinnamon, Mate or Xfce? I have a Lenovo T430 as well, I am running LM19.2 Cinnamon and I dont have any problems with the lid closing and suspend. Just for clarity, hibernation is disabled by default in LM19/19.1/19.2 Perhaps there is a program that wakes up your computer? R...

Laptop won't enter standby

For some reason my Lenovo T430 running 19.2 has stopped being able to enter standby. I noticed it yesterday when I got home from work and got it out of my laptop bag and it was hot as it had stayed on despite closing the lid. I have tried a reboot and it initially worked but it has now stopped going...

Re: Will my computer explode when I press the wrong key? Newbie disaster stories.

I let the magic smoke out of my 48k Spectrum by plugging in the wrong barrel connector for the power. I accidentally plugged in the PSU for my NES. The Speccy was expecting 9v DC and didn't like the 9v AC that the NES PSU output.

Re: Bug reporting for iCloud mail.

We have read the whole story. The problem was a comprehension one at your end, not ours. You should go back and re-read your own posts in this thread. The rest of the posts were basic troubleshooting to find out the cause of the issue, which ended up being nothing to do with Linux and all you can do...

Re: Bug reporting for iCloud mail.

@ Shiratori Thanks for your help Shiratori. It was what you have said, that the mail settings were unchecked. I did not expect this. Funny how Apple detective did not even bother to ask to check these settings.... I'm a little old and have difficulty dealing with halfwits always making silly commen...

Re: Bug reporting for iCloud mail.

There does appear to be some strange behaviour with iCloud email that depends on what you use to access it, webmail or an IMAP client. There are 2 folders, "Sent" and "Sent Messages". "Sent" is where emails sent from an IMAP client end up (tested with Thunderbird and the mail client on my Samsung ph...

There is an option for that in the preferences, but AFAIK it was set by default.

I just tested it on Firefox on Mint Cinnamon 19.2 and it worked fine. The email appeared correctly in the Sent folder.

Re: how to install new cursor themes in LM 19

Extract the folder to ~/.icons and it should be available. If you want it system-wide then it needs to be extracted elsewhere but I can't remember where so someone else will have to chime in.

Re: Only a quarter of one icon shows on one icon?

In this case I'm not quite sure whether the bug is ultimately with Cinnamon (it does not happen on any other desktop environment): https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon/issues or Update Manager (my version does not appear to exhibit the issue - pending your confirmation): https://github.com/linuxmi...
