hdd size limit

I am using Mint 21 on a tower.I,m wondering if there is a size limit for storage hdd.I think I remember reading that there is a 2tb limit for linux.Am I dreaming?I want to back up lots of uncompressed video on the machine instead of using multiple external drives.

Re: What are your opinions, reasons for choosing Mint ?

I went from Win 7 (a year or 2) to Win 10(2 days) to Ubuntu.I used Ubuntu for a couple of years, liked it,but had some issues, especially on the laptop. It was always necessary to get on the forum an find out how to get wireless and some other stuff to work. Then I discovered Mint(18 or so)and now every...

Re: What is your failure rate working with Mint?

For trouble-free Linux install: 1.research you specific hardware for compaibility BEFORE you install.2 DO NOT dual boot.( unless you understand fully how that works and how to fix it WHEN it breaks.3. stick with built-in audio and video if at all possible.4.If possible, put all data files on a separa...

Re: What are the features that you think mint is missing?

As each new version of Mint gets better and better,it gets harder to find issues to complain about.Just remind yourself why you came here in the first place.Keep in mind that even though you can make it look like any version of windows(or Mac),it only looks that way. There is still a learning curve f...

Re: What do we expect from Mint or Linux?

What I like about Mint:insall it,add desired programs, update once, use it.No changes made when I update, everything keeps working the way I set it up unless I change it myself.(sometimes by mistake)All that configurability in mostly lost on me.I just want to insall it and get to work/play.If I really ...

Re: Which distro do you use as a daily driver?

Been using Mint on both machines for a while now.It just works, both on older hdwr and my fancy serious over-kill i5 6 core 1 yr old tower. My only complaint: should have listened to whoever that was who posted that he(she?)always did clean install instead of upgrade, even on Mint 20.1to 20.2.It worked...

Re: Time To Stay With Linux Mint

I'll second all that.I used Ubuntu for a couple of years, but had some issues with dual monitors, and some other minor issues.I tried Mint,19 I think, and it seemed to work a little smoother.I liked the Ubuntu desktop until they switched to Gnome.Thats when I dumped Ubuntu for good and stuck with Mint....

Re: Are You Experiencing Recent Chrome Performance Issues?

I have had this problem once or twice on Mint 20.1.I noticed that a google chrome update popped up right after the last time,a couple of days ago.Maybe check to see if your updates are working properly.

audacity cracles

I am using audacity to convert vinyl (with a USB turtable-Numark)to wave and then to mp3.When I monitor on playthru,I get crackling sound, which does not show up on the recorded file when I play it back.I use the playthru method because I previously had problems with Audacity stopping record function...

Re: Time To Stay With Linux Mint

Glad to see I'm not the only distro hopper to end up on Mint.Am currently using Mint on both computers:medium hot i5 nvme video editing semi-monster tower, and my old-ish HP Probook laptop.Works great on both.I used Ubuntu for quite a while, but I eventually realized Mint could do everything out of th...

This may be as good as it gets on that hardware.Try running updates again.Sometimes that helps. It is a good idea to update any time you add or remove a program.

Re: G'day from Australia!

Welcome to mint.I am in the same boat as you,but a year further along.I ditched Windows about 14 months ago.I found that the biggest obstacle to using Linux full time was figuring out which programs will do what I want with a minimum of head scratching(already bald).Luckily, trial and error in Linux ...
