Clear Skype History Ver 8.10.0.4

How do you clear Skype History on version 8.10.0.4 which I think is the latest?

The latest version is quite different to previous versions and a giant step backwards if I may say so. :(

Re: Installing Wireless USB Adapter

I’ve been doing a bit of Research on this business on Wi-Fi dropping out and found it was common going back a good number of years. A lot of the fixes related to Power Management so I followed the instructions to find out if it was turned on. It wasn’t, but I’ll post the report on the old Dongle tha...

Connecting Ethernet - Router - Modem

Further to my previous Post Titled “Installing Wireless USB Adapter" I have come up with a different idea that goes like this: I have a NetComm NB6Plus4W Modem Router which became redundant when I moved from ADSL to Fibre. Now what I’d like to do is connect from my Mint Desktop to the NetComm R...

Re: Installing Wireless USB Adapter

Well we haven’t had much luck with this new Dongle, but the old XP Computer flies, quickest in the house by far on internet speedtest, which includes Win10 Laptops. Now, as a bonus, going back to the little Dongle, it goes OK for a while now, but then drops out and I have to turn the wireless off an...

Re: Installing Wireless USB Adapter

Thanks for your patience Jeremy, it's appreciated. I followed you instructions and got no error messages. Linux Dongle Terminal5.jpg I then rebooted and the system just hung at the Mint Logo screen. There was no light on the Dongle and no apparent HDD action. I then removed the Dongle and the five l...

Re: Installing Wireless USB Adapter

Ahhh, yes Jeremy, The whole thing flashed past so quickly I didn't notice some Errors, Warnings and Notes being reported. Now I'd like to be able to post the whole installation report by screenshot but with the 100K file size restriction it would be far too small to be able to read so I'll try a scr...

Re: Installing Wireless USB Adapter

Well guy’s she’s a challenge this one. Starting with Jeremy: Yep, that extra step fixed that problem but we now get stuck with “ sudo cp mt7612u.ko /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/”. It just sits there and nothing happens. The little white square doesn’t even flash and there see...

Re: Installing Wireless USB Adapter

Thanks Michael, I’ll follow up on those links you provided.

With regard to the Realteck problem, I “think” this particular Dongle is running a MediaTek MTK7612 chipset, which may, or may not make, a difference.

Anyway, I’ll get back after I’ve studied those links you provided.

Thanks

Re: Installing Wireless USB Adapter

Back again Jeremy. Ok, I've done that lsusb test and got the following; The first test was done without the Dongle plugged in and the second with it plugged in. You'll notice that on the second test a MediaTek device has turned up which is the chipset mentioned in the dongles specification. lsusb.jp...

Re: Installing Wireless USB Adapter

Well guys I haven’t made any progress on this matter but have come to the conclusion that the drivers supplied need to be installed, so let’s start at the beginning. The Dongle was supplied with a small CD that contained three Folders: Linux – Mac – Windows. Image 1.jpg ] Now if I open the Linux Fol...

Here you go guys. But just be aware that some of the reports may refer to an internal PCI Modem which I wish to replace because of its slowness. bob@bob-desktop ~ $ inxi -Fxz System: Host: bob-desktop Kernel: 4.4.0-36-generic x86_64 (64 bit gcc: 5.4.0) Desktop: Cinnamon 3.0.7 (Gtk 3.18.9-1ubuntu3.3)...
