I've got a C700 (500G HDD and 2G ram) with Mint XFCE installed on it. Gets a little bogged down if lots of web pages are open (>15) using Opera or Firefox. Have you checked that when burning the disk you are "Closing the Disk" which means no more information can be written to it. Many CD/DVD players won't play the disk unless it is closed. Equally only the CD/DVD recorder that the music was recorded on will play it.

I couldn't get Freemind to run in Mint XFCE 18 and then discovered Freeplane. Its very very similar to Freemind, loads mm files ok and is available from the default repository (Mint Software Manager).
