No network on boot ?

Trying to use dropbear to SSH into my LUKS laptop However when the machine gets to the unlock screen, it's not on the network. And it doesn't appear on the network until the disk is unlocked. I am wondering if there is a NIC naming thing causing issues ? I have the same setup on an older Debian 10 m...

Re: Feature request #2: Miracast (display over wifi)

Question: Does Miracast SHOW WHATEVER IS ON THE DESKTOP or does it just show certain types of files? In my experience it's just a desktop mirror - with audio too. In Windows display settings you can set which desktop you want to cast. You can also reverse/invert desktops if you've got a shonky moni...

Re: Feature request #2: Miracast (display over wifi)

All I know is I never again want to go to a presentation with my Mint laptop, and be invited to "just press Win+K" to connect to a wireless projector and then look like a prize idiot. After that I tried exporting the presentation to PPT, but whatever LibreOffice does, it ain't powerpoint. ...

Re: Feature request. # 1 Handsfree/Headset protocol in BT

Messed around with all that, and results are as before. Microphone doesn't show as an input.

Booting the exact same setup into Win7 and Win10 the earbuds work perfectly.

So this is a feature that I'd suggest needs fixing into Mint properly.

Get the Handsfree/Headset protocol for blue tooth working so I can use my BT earbuds on VOIP and other calls. Works out-of-the-box for me, but I wanted to make sure you had tried ... https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=365929 Does that work with the microphone ? Because all my att...

Feature request #2: Miracast (display over wifi)

that is whatever Windows machines do when you press Win+K and wireless throw your screen to a TV with Miracast.

It was lacking this that stopped me rolling out a 40-Mint desktop setup at work last year.

Feature request. # 1 Handsfree/Headset protocol in BT

Get the Handsfree/Headset protocol for blue tooth working so I can use my BT earbuds on VOIP and other calls. Right now it's either boot into Windows (which, of course does it out of the box without trying) or plug a wired headset in. Researching the issue it seems it used to do it back in 2015 and ...

Re: GUI for managing online accounts has disappeared

Fixed it all. Had to run gnome-online-accounts by hand (the shortcut lives in /usr/share/applications). That allowed me to remove and recreate the hotmail account. I then decided to add "Cinnamon" to /usr/share/applications/gnome-online-accounts-panel.desktop OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity;Cinnamo...

Re: GUI for managing online accounts has disappeared

Are you talking about your email accounts? Or other types of accounts? What software were you using previously? Very vague and almost mysterious post. I know I used a GUI to setup an online (hotmail) account in Evolution. Now I need to nuke that install from space, and can't remove the account. Not...

No sound on Bluetooth Microphone

Have done the Pipewire fix to bring HSP/HFP into my Mint setup. jlc17@jlc-HP-ProBook-650-G1:~/IDriveForLinux/scripts$ pactl info | grep '^Server Name' Server Name: PulseAudio (on PipeWire 0.3.42) Opening Sounds Settings now shows the earbuds i7s as an available input. However selecting this input do...

Re: Bluetooth Earbud Problems

Not really much help to you, but the bottom line is Linux doesn't really do convenient wireless anything. I never got my earbuds to work properly (i.e. with microphone). As for screen casting - well that's best left unsaid. Just to rub it in, not only does Windows 10 do these flawlessly. Even Window...

Possible I guess - but it ran through the BIOS screen and had to unlock the disk (I have full disk encryption on) before rebooting.

Curious. Does command journalctl --list-boots show you any boots after 31st October? 0 8181c41811084f5baaf15ffad67df706 Sun 2021-10-31 17:23:03 GMT—Thu 2021-11-18> So no. "Manual" nework settings being ignored.

Have set my interface IPV4 DHCP settings to "Manual" Assigned IP address 192.168.10.121 to the adapter. ifconfig shows it as that then it changes to 192.168.10.165 checking settings it is *still* set to manual and 192.168.10.121. So what (or who) do I need to kill to get this **** machine ...
