Personally I don't mind version numbers, or year style numbers.
But I do take exception to nick names / codename references based upon crappy book characters or girls names
or whatever nonsense they use.
Bookworms /Maggots / Stretchy Balls, Vanessa .
They mean nothing at all to me.

Re: Install NanoVNA Saver
There used to be binaries.
I grabbed them all last year.
Try this.
https://qsl.net/g0ftd/other/nano-vna-or ... 20v055.zip
Unzip, right click on the file, allow it to execute.

NEMO delete vs Nemo Move to rubbish bin ?
Both options are in the menu, but BOTH appear to do the same thing = simply move a file to the trash can. Why ? Sure the DELETE function should do something else like some other file managers that write a bunch of zeros across a deleted file instead ? Or have I missed something ? Advice appreciated.

Re: CLI Based pdf viewer?
Thanks all of you.
I tried them all, but none appeared to be what I remembered, they all seem to require X.
On the other hand, some look interesting anyway.
Cheers!

CLI Based pdf viewer?
Some time ago I once installed a command line viewer.
The program didn't require any GUI, it was pure terminal stuff.
Does anyone know what it is ?
Thanks.

Firefox and inodes issue ?
I find that using one particular website: http://websdr.ewi.utwente.nl:8901/ ALWAYS ends up crashing my LM 20.3 Cinnamon (all updates applied). THe annoying thing is that during the last years or so, FF will issue an update and the problem gets solved. Then another update brings it back, why ? The p...

KDE Software center - oh dear !
Somehow, this app, which gets listed in the task manager as mintinstall (or something) managed to sneak itself onto my LM20.3 system. I think it *might* have come bundled with some other app, but for the life of me I can't remember what. (Sorry if this is a bit hazy). Upon reboot, it appeared to rep...

Re: 3rd time whole folders disappear.
Strange how you mentioned that you lost your files which may coincide with a Kernel update, because I've had this happen to me too, twice and I suspected the same but couldn't prove it! I had a large folder with lots of files in it, EXT4 formatted in my laptop that simply vanished, and no tools appe...

SOLVED Re: Nemo ZIP bug ?
Folks.
Research and testing appears pretty conclusive that it's NOT an LM/Nemo bug.
It's Windows.
Looks like Windows can't unpack passworded zip files that use the AES256 method.
I would have taken it for granted that Win could do that in this day and age, but apparently not

Re: Nemo ZIP bug ?
OK folks, well a few of us are testing (Hi Andy TDJ). Some confusion has been added to the mix, which now actually points the blame in the other direction > a Windows bug instead. So might not be an LM bug afterall, but more testing needed. Now it seems that Windows has the problems unziping passwor...

Re: Nemo ZIP bug ?
Nemo passwording is NOT using original PK ZIP method.
It sill used the 7Z method despite being told to use use ZIP, as opposed to 7Z.

Re: Nemo ZIP bug ?
Using Nemo right click, and using option of ZIP, not 7Z.
Windows users using the build in decompression tool fails to unzip.
Windows users with 7Z tools works only.
So Nemo is NOT using the PK ZIP method when it comes to zipping.

SOLVED Re: Nemo ZIP bug ?
I've been running some tests with a few others. If I zip file specifically with the zip option with a PASSWORD (NOT 7Z) it appears to still use 7Z compression and that means that the default decompression for Windows users fails. Using LM 20.3 Cinnamon. So it appears that despite Nemo giving the opt...

Re: Warpinator is great (but how to get on a Raspberry PI?)
I'm on on Buster for the Pi. It's a painstakingly crafted image for some real on off programs, so I'd rather stick with that. OK about chasing deps, I spent a lot of time doing so for the above and I'm in need of a rest from it all, I need to enjoy some life ;-) But I'll keep that link that you sent...

Warpinator is great (but how to get on a Raspberry PI?)
Today I finally tried Warpinator on my LM machine, and have also installed it on my Android phone. Brilliant, fast and easy. Now I'd like to know if there's an easy way to do the same with my Raspberry Pi 3B+ (it runs the Pi OS 32 bit, not the latest version but the one before whatever that is calle...

Cracked it ! I uninstalled WINE, and made sure too that I wiped the .wine folder. Serious problems finding installed programs with WINE on 20.3
A few days ago I started to install a handful of old Windows programs to run in WINE. I made some progress and finally got them to install and work. Problem 1 was solved by right clicking on the desktop icon and telling the program to run with Windows Program Loader. Problem 2 was solved by using th...

Re: The worst WINE ever ?
Doesn't resolve at all to anywhere. In the end I used the add app function in CONFIGURE WINE to install the Windows app, and that at least put it in a visible folder. So far so good, but then another snag came up, I needed to install a Windows app which is the engine behind that HAMCAP GUI. Regretfu...
