Re: Enabling access point with WPA/WPA2

I also have some strange issues with a hotspot on a Linux Mint 19.1 machine. In particular, i can only create a hotspot if i select the "ad-hoc" mode. If i select the "hotspot" mode, i cannot create a hotspot (nothing happens when i try). If i keep the "ad-hoc" mode, the only encryption formats avai...

Re: [SOLVED] No Wifi in Linux Mint After it Had Been Working - Why? How Can I Fix It?

I've also noticed that my WiFi with a Broadcom Wireless Adapter was not working in a freshly installed Linux Mint 19.1, despite that the driver bcmwl-kernel-source was installed. Apparently the problem was related to this wizardry with Secure Boot, MOK, and driver signing. I could fix it with sudo a...

Re: Missed to confirm password and enroll MOK

I do not understand myself what this password is used for and how it helps to use third-party drivers, but i think that the following Ubuntu wiki page is relevant: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UEFI/SecureBoot/DKMS It seems that the `mokutil` command could be used to repeat the step you missed on the next...

It's ok to bump this thread since the issue (/bug) is not resolved, and neither confirmed to be a bug, nor satisfactorily explained.

Re: What are these ":i386" packages doing on my freshly installed system?

@Moem, thanks for the clarification. I would argue that it would be more appropriate to have something like HTML's <pre> or <samp> in this case, and that long quotations should also be rendered in scrollable text areas, but for the lack of such options, and since such are the rules of the forum, it ...

Re: What are these ":i386" packages doing on my freshly installed system?

And please keep in mind that mods are allowed to edit your post for better readability, and that's what we've been trying to do here. Not sure why you don't want that. Is it really smart to make it harder for people to help you? Do you think it will motivate them? Thanks for trying to make my post ...

Re: What are these ":i386" packages doing on my freshly installed system?

If you installed a 32-bit Mint Now that's an important bit of information that has not been given so far. Did you? @Moem, are you addressing me or Mute Ant? Just in case, i used so called linuxmint-18.1-cinnamon-64bit.iso . P.S. Whoever tries to reformat or edit my post, please quit. Better think a...

Re: What are these ":i386" packages doing on my freshly installed system?

@Lemongrass38, basically, it looks like you don't know. Also, you didn't provide any explanation why they show up as if i requested them explicitly.

Re: What are these ":i386" packages doing on my freshly installed system?

@Lemongrass38, Ubuntu does not seem to install any of these, at least they do not show up. Do you say that LM somehow needs them while Ubuntu does well without?

P.S. @Cosmo, i did not mean ":i386" as a peace of code, but as a part of a name.

What are these ":i386" packages doing on my freshly installed system?

I have installed LM 18.1 Cinnamon edition on my new laptop (with Intel Skylake CPU), installed updates, and maybe a couple of packages. Then i decided to inspect the list of manually installed packages following this recipe. I did this before on Ubuntu, and on a newly installed system the returned l...
