i also am using 8 gigs DDR3 ram on an SSD with a quad core i5 CPU...i have a swap FILE, (not partition) of 2 gigs...even under heavy loads, swap has never activated on my system...if your running LM 19.xx, you should have no need to delete that swap file at all, though for the most part, your system...

im glad to have been of some help to you...i think with the SSD and an adequate amount of ram, i doubt that overclocking would be of much advantage unless of course your a wild manic gamer...lol...DAMIEN

after bios is set to default, reboot...place usb device into usb port...reboot again...then go back into bios again and make sure that secure boot and fast boot are both disabled and then make sure the first boot up device is set for usb device...save settings and let it reboot and hopefully this wi...

i also had various problems with VLC player on XFCE...i went to the software manager and installed a very basic, simple player called MPV...it works perfectly...uninstalled VLC and never looked back...DAMIEN

yeh, im aware that is orcas purpose, i just remember that the original code he used to use a few years back included orca as well as mono in the same line and i wasnt interested in orca anyways...and i would say, "extreme caution" is a fair term to use here as well when referring to mono usage...DAM...

could you copy and paste the code below to your terminal and post it here?...im seeing in your sudo apt update, both LM sarah releases as well as LM xenial releases showing in your update manager...potential conflict between the 2 repositories may be the problem...looks to be rather a mess to me...D...

The real question should be, Do you realise that all support for LM 17.3 ends this month of April, 2019?...if that is a new machine, why not install LM 19.1 which is fully supported until April, 2023 instead?...DAMIEN
