Re: Censorship on the forum

I believe that some people involved in this forum are "censoring" posts based on the sensibilities of their nationality, not for honest reasons. It needs to stop. Linux and Linux Mint are international communities. Just because you and your neighbours don't approve of other people's talk, you don't...

Re: Replacement KDE distros... Feedback here!

But now it's time to roll up the sleeves and get serious with PCLinuxOS. That's my test distro. Anyone got any others. Let's feedback here to help other KDE users and sort through what's what, what works, what doesn't. Putting PCLinuxOS in a Virtualbox. All started well. Did an upgrade with Synapti...

Re: Differences between KDE Mint & OpenSuse... what are they really?

Suse uses rpm instead of deb, so the software has not the same version/base repositories as mint/ubuntu.
Suse uses the BTRFS filesystem in a standard install, witch not everybody loves, so take care when installing.

Re: What you'll do when Firefox drops support for XUL addons?

However.... and this is what has brought me to this thread ..... following my latest Firefox update (to 55.0.2), UBlock Origin has disappeared. Or at least its icon has. Firefox still seems to suggest that it is installed. I have no idea whether UBlock Origin is still there or if it is working. I e...

Re: What you'll do when Firefox drops support for XUL addons?

But the thing I liked best about Firefox was the addons that let me customize it and add functionality to it to my hearts content. Without some of my addons Firefox becomes just another browser to me. I mean, if I'm going to have to use Chrome extensions anyway, it doesn't really matter which brows...

Re: X370 motherboards and linux

MS has over 100K people just making drivers for all that obscure hardware out there. The open source community just can't do that. Ryzen = "obscure hardware" ? I do not know if the opensource is to blame? I would think first in order is AMD. ASUS Prime x370 works fine for me. Sorry to barge in, but...

It was a year ago, I have also searched to get it going. It works, but conflicts with mythtv audio. Therefore I stopped the autor...

Re: LinuxMint how purge systemd ?

Not really friendly answers What happened to the freedom of Linux. Why are people not helped if they want to stay off a more or less mainstream path I know, the big Linux players (Red Hat e.d.) have decided to blur things with their choices such as systemd, but why so hostile to users who do not wan...

Re: Linux Mint 18.2 “Sonya” KDE released!

Stable and reliable are the goals of Mint devs not cutting edge. And that's a good thing. Small problem: After the switch from KDE4 to KDE5, the KDE5 desktop has not reach the stability that KDE4 had, see the KDE5 bug list. Consider the the very fast updates from KDE the last half year, then you se...

REISUB - the gentle Linux restart Holding down Alt and SysRq (which is the Print Screen key) while slowly typing REISUB will get you safely restarted. REISUO will do a shutdown rather than a restart. Firefox changed something! OMG. Shock. It's about the way it happens. If this becomes the "open source" way of dealing with users and developers it will end the movement. Please read this, and the responses of users and developer's from firefox who are left in the cold. https://blog.mozilla.org/add...

I don't totally understand why Mozilla/firefox is removing classic add ons. There switching to WebExtensions in Nov 2017. Why worry about it? It's not like everything on the interwebs will stop working. Some people's inability to comprehend that others might have different needs than they do is ama...
