My usage was very light until a month before the drive croaked.
Now GParted won't go into/see the drive, it takes an hour trying to. That is after wiping the partitions and making new partitions and then trying to wipe them.
I'm hoping the drive is clean enough to send in for replacement...

Wipe Ailing SSD before Return of it?
Recently I came here for advice on a 2 year old SSD that croaked on me. It's under a 3 year warranty, it's a Team Group Drive. Is there a way to wipe it before returning to the manufacturer in Mint? I've read horror stories of how people's drives end up in bad hands in places such as North Africa af...

Re: Videos in Opera browser
I think the answer is yes, I did this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/operabrowser/w ... eg_config/
And things seem a little bit better.

Videos in Opera browser
I think a while back I partially resolve this issue, but with the web browser Opera in Mint 1/2 of facebook and other video content doesn't play. I haven't found a satisfactory answer or solution yet. Does anyone have insights?

Re: Canon MF 260 Printer not printer
I solved it. Under Printer Properties I did 2 things more, put in the IP and didn't use the original option in a window, but as a new option.
I knew something wasn't right because I could indeed scan with it.

Before I installed the driver, the latest Mint Cinnamon see it and tries to print to it, but it cancels on its own. I also installed the official Canon Linux Drivers and same result. my Firewall is off.

Re: Suddenly went to read only
So it seems it will take darys to recover some of my files such as family photos and personal documents, but its successfully getting a percentage of them back. It's slower than a glacier, but it's happening, about 20% is not recovering, I imagine one entire chip must have failed...

So I'm guessing my best choice to attempt a wipe of the drive is with the DD command sequence I see in other threads here?

Re: Suddenly went to read only
Ok, I've got the bad SSD connected to my tower via adapter, questions: How do I access the drive's files if I know the password? I didn't encrypt them. Secondly, is there a way to wipe the parts that are accessable in case I do decide to send the drive in for replacement? Thirdly, how do I find out ...

Yup, I figured it out yesterday, thanks guys. The drive is dying. I put a new drive in. Is Teamgroup a bad brand? I've owned Team RAM that was very dependable many years ago.

Re: Suddenly went to read only
I think I understand the WHY that the drive went READ ONLY on its own: It's a stopgap to protect the drive's data as best as it can for recover of data. I've forever lost about 20% but of that, some of it is backed up already. Some music I did is lost (I'm a guitarist). What I don't get is I only di...
