Re: Coding in Mint?

I have a very limited income, it's fixed, but I've subscribed to Kindle Unlimited and also purchased or got for free, a number of Udemy classes. I find the books often have mistakes in them, which in a way, teaches you because you have to catch the writer's grammatical and instructional errors. One ...

Re: Coding in Mint?

My BIL codes in C++ for most of his living. He has been a reason for me to try to learn this. We were trying to think of projects because he says books and videos are fine and all, but actually trying to do real stuff is better. So I am hoping I can find sites with partial code or ideas for things t...

Coding in Mint?

I'm reading coding books, not very far along yet, with python in Mint. Is there a forum for code snippets and practice stuff and help? I don't want to get too far OT here at the Mint Forum, but don't know where to start.

Why do I have to use alt-tab to open windows?[SOLVED]

Somehow something has changed and it took a while to realize that change happened (update to 19 or what I don't know). When I shrink a windows my bar on the bottom doesn't show shrunk apps and/or browser windows etcetera and the only way to get to them or change them is with an alt-tab movement. Whe...

Graphic Design: Home Made Business card?

I want to design myself a couple business cards and submit them to a discount maker online once designed. I want to embed images, design logo, use various Fonts, and colors/patterns. I don't have any solid idea yet what I want. What software would you use in Linux to do this? Do I need to dive deep ...

Re: google earth problem

FWIW, I was running 18.3 LM and proxima's top on the list of ones that might work, did work.

I am now running LM19 and will get around to seeing if I should change GE to any newer version. I know that if it ain't broke, as they say...

Re: Timeshift and required file systems?

catweisel, what methods of backup do you recommend? How often? On what type of backup system? I have no budget, FWIW. So far, I've only used Aptik, but my installs aren't so important, my important files are on storage drives which themselves have duplicates of.

Timeshift and required file systems?

So up until now I had never tried to use timeshift. The upgrade to Tara procedure from 18.3 to 19 requests one use timeshift. I didn't realize that timeshift was using my existing boot and home ssd, the other physical drives are all formatted with NTFS so that I can use them cross OS wise and becaus...

Re: How to upgrade to Linux Mint 19

It seems I didn't have spare drive space due to the timeshift stored files, so I've removed them, I used aptik to back up elsewhere anyways. downloading now.

Re: troubles getting vbox to work dkms [UPDATE-Solved]

[solved this, sort of, read ahead here] I was right to suspect that having the UEFI in my computer set to "Secure Boot" even with the install option of LM 19.0 enabled could have to do with my problem. When I had tried to install the VB DKMS part, it would ask for the Secure Boot Password, even when...

Re: troubles getting vbox to work dkms

Possible important factor I've realized: When I installed LM 19.0 I manually partitioned and chose the option to allow OS to run with secure boot enabled. Now when I initially used the software manager to install Virtualbox it asked for my secure boot password, and I didn't have one so I entered my ...

Ok, I will do so and reinstall when post beta is out and do without VB for a while. Thank you for trying so hard and for your dedication.
