Re: Thumb Drive - copying files to USB Thumb Drive error

It shows I am the owner.
Folder access: Create and delete files
File access: ---

For File access, it always reverts back to "---"

Thumb Drive - copying files to USB Thumb Drive error

Linux Mint 19.1 When I attempt to copy a large number of files to my USB Thumb Drive, when it encounters an issue like to overwrite or something about the filename cannot not be copied, I get a message to Skip, Cancel. Whatever I do the copying fails and the progress window goes away. An attempt to ...

Re: Need to Upgrade 128gb SSD to 500gb SSD ?'s

I did the exact same thing - upgraded from a 128GB SSD to a WD Blue 500GB SSD. I opened my PC and installed the new 500GB SSD drive and then cloned it with these commands: First I prepared the new 500GB SSD using gparted (GUI app) and set up partitions like this: /dev/sdb1 = primary root (30GB) /dev...

Updates - how secure are they?

What confidence do we have that Linux Mint updates have not been compromised with Malware, or worst?

What are some best practices?

Re: Monodevelop in Mint19 - no GUI designer

Under Linux Mint 18.3, Monodevelop is version 5.10 = there is a GUI designer
Under Linux Mint 19.1, Monodevelop is version 7.7 = there is not a GUI designer

If anyone knows what the issue is, I would appreciate it.

Re: Monodevelop in Mint19 - no GUI designer

Already Googled and found that ... still no GUI toolbox for designing a window layout - i.e buttons, text boxes, etc.

I've used prior versions of Monodevelop to write programs so I know how to use it.
But, with Linux Mint 19 or because its Monodevelop 7.7, something is not working properly.

Monodevelop in Mint19 - no GUI designer

There is no GUI designer for Monodevelop IDE in Linux Mint 19.

Is this a bug, some package needs to be installed, or is Microsoft messing with it to promote Visual Studio?

Re: 19.1 Blank Page when printing Graphics, text OK

My goof.
Further testing, I find this issue is a gscan2pdf application issue - not Linux Mint.

Re: 19.1 Blank Page when printing Graphics, text OK

No, I have a separate scanner.
After I scan the image in, which is a simple line drawing, I want to print it on the HP2420 printer.

Weird that even Print Preview in gscan2pdf is blank too.

19.1 Blank Page when printing Graphics, text OK

I have Linux Mint 19.1
HP 2420 LaserJet B&W, and a Brother MFC440CN color ink jet.
Both will print text just fine, but if say I scan a document using gscan2pdf all I get is a blank page.

Is there some setting I need to make?

Security Vulnerability ...

I noted this in Linux Mint 18.3 and 19.1 When your PC is screen saver locked, you type in your password. If you have left your PC with an application open like for example Calc spreadsheet or Firefox Facebook, then your password is entered in plain text in that application. In Facebook, be careful a...

Re: Mate, edit Menus, Separators do not appear ...

After chown -Rc command, I can see the separators ... but just barely.
No way as distinct as they were in 18.3.
Separators are so faint in 19.1 there is no reason to even utilize them.
Probably better to go back to making separators like they were in 18.3 <-- my opinion.

Re: Mate, edit Menus, Separators do not appear ...

Thanks, that was a great tip. I had never noted that it was there - I had primarily used Shutter to take Screen Captures. Still cannot get Menu separators to show. They worked in Linux Mint 18.3 but not in 19.1. BTW, I have my Applications Places System menu across the top of my desktop, with anothe...

Re: Mate, edit Menus, Separators do not appear ...

I upgraded to Linux Mint 19.1, and selected the theme Mint X ... but still the separators I enter when I edit the menus do not appear.

Is there something that needs to be enabled????
