...Mint 18.1 -> kernel 4.4.0-53 -> where kernel 4.4 release date, 10 Jan 2016 A9-9410 release date -> June 2016 Usually people try if newer kernels / firmware has fixed stuff, not the other way around... intel_idle.max_cstate -> for Intel (well, obviously ...) ...after booting... dmesg | less & jour...

...that simply cannot be (Feb 2018, March 2019...and i'm quite confident,
that there's other threads for Wacom One tablets in which i didn't participated myself) ;-)

Have you rebooted afterwards?

...nah, i believe the answer in regards to forums' posts is easier to figure out.
They broke it during the day, and set Timeshift to have it restored by night while sleeping...

Re: m.2 or linux broke today

Yeap. Try the above, and if still experiencing issues getting into the desktop, try instead adding both nomodeset & iommu=soft (you know now how to do such both temporary or permanently). (eg. GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="nomodeset iommu=soft quiet splash"). Then post inxi -Fxz , for people around to...

Re: DRI_PRIME App Freeze

Weird, very weird. Above should certainly work with kernels 4.15 (even earlier ones actually),
and with earlier Mesa versions since quite a few yrs, so myself I'd suspect the ppa myself for not playing as it should...

Re: DRI_PRIME App Freeze

Sure, xed admin:///etc/default/grub Modify there as... GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=" radeon.si_support=0 amdgpu.si_support=1 quiet splash" Save, run sudo update-grub , reboot. (btw, note that performance on such older GCN 1.0/1.1 run-of-the-mill cards, isn't exactly what someone would call...impressi...

Re: m.2 or linux broke today

Nice. What i'd do / test myself: xed admin:///etc/default/grub Modify there as... GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=" iommu=soft quiet splash" Save, run sudo update-grub , reboot. What this does is to make this kernel parameter permanent. 2 ways to pass a parameter: the guide with the pictures that you fol...

...for whatever use it might be, to future readers and not only: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=202665 (examples: 1 , 2 , 3 ). TLDR: if iommu=pt and/or iommu=soft don't do the trick due to the filesystem having been corrupted above, restore / reinstall, but do add them to grub afterward...

Re: m.2 or linux broke today

you can point me to a guide, like check URL and work down to part X where you add .... something like that would work well for me (virtually same procedure as with passing nomodeset ). I don't see anything related to encryption above myself. Might be wrong though, never used such myself. (if iommu=...

Re: m.2 or linux broke today

If i'm reading your mb's manual correctly: M.I.T., Advanced Frequency Settings, Advanced CPU Core Settings, SVM should be set to enabled. If lucky, that's all...if not, try by further passing iommu=pt and/or iommu=soft to grub (virtually same procedure as with passing nomodeset ). Hopefully you won'...

Re: m.2 or linux broke today

This has nothing to do with Windows though, it's 'Defender' / whatever... The signature complaint is related to Secure Boot & modules signing. The AMD-Vi / iommu error is what i'd focus on myself. ...Edit: Does your UEFI have a "Enumerate all IOMMU in IVRS" option? If yes, give it a try... Or the ex...

...i have the very same card here, with radeon.si_support=0 amdgpu.si_support=1 passed to grub, in order for it to use amdgpu instead of the radeon driver. You might wanna give it a try. However, no such issue as you describe though that i experience (regardless radeon or amdgpu driver). Note though...

Re: Install a Wacom One graphics tablet on LM18.3

...that's the issue with Mint 18.3, it's Update Manager doesn't provide the ability to install Canonical's official kernels > 4.15.x So i'm afraid for the most part there are 3 options... 1) Move to 19.x.. 2) Manually re-install the driver when you update to a newer 4.15.x revision... 3) People seem...

...first things first...with the tablet plugged-in: uname -r && lsusb This will tell you 2 things...the kernel version in use, and also the usb peripherals' vendor/product IDs, so that you can see what is your very exact model. Then, you cross-check this nicely convenient table here... https://githu...
