Re: What is LMDE missing?

I really have nothing to ask for, I have had a great experience with LMDE. That said, there are some annoying bugs that were never fixed on this version of Debian and the software versions on the manager are very outdated. But I guess this will all go away with LMDE3, right? It would be nice to have...

Re: How much computer/linux/non-linux experience for LMDE?

Caveat: Mint uses user id 500. Most others use user id 1000. I came from PCLinux OS to Mint and got an error message, none of my stuff available! Couldn't figure out what the h  ll happened until I booted a live USB and found Mint's different id number! ;) I see..... Well, I "upgrade...

Re: How much computer/linux/non-linux experience for LMDE?

I use LMDE2 on a Macbook Air with only 2Gb of RAM, just make a 4Gb swap partition and you should be fine, Linux is super light compared to ANY Windows version. But if you have no previous experience, I would start with Mint Cinnamon, much friendlier to converted Windows users. It's easier to install...

Re: LMDE 2 - Lenovo T430 - mDisplayport to HDMI no audio

I had the same problem with my MacBook Air, fixed it by installing the correct graphics driver, in my case Nvidia.

But HDMI pin standards are a nightmare, maybe the "problem" is on the cable.........had to try 3 different adapters to make my VGA second monitor to work.

Re: I would love to go back to Linux right now.

I had a similar problem with a Lenovo last week. It seams, because Windows is so fat and slow, that to make people think their laptops are booting faster, windows doesn't make hard resets anymore. Even when you "shutdown", it just hibernate. http://blog.lenovo.com/en/blog/how-to-enter-the-bios-setup...

Re: Nvidia driver breaks every time Xorg or Cinnamon updates

not sure what you mean letting the package figure it out ? The only two packages I installed myself was nvidia-driver and nvidia-settings, the rest was installed as dependencies or during the nvidia-driver self configuration when you "sudo nvidia-xconfig" (i'm not sure this is the only command to r...

Re: Nvidia driver breaks every time Xorg or Cinnamon updates

I'm using Nvidia-driver and letting the package figure it out the best drivers and packages.
Everything works flawlessly.

Re: Constant buzzing in headphones

Fred, it is very probable that the problem is with your hardware. It's very common problem, I use a MacBook and every time I have a larger download it will start buzzing. The only hardware that never did such things was an old standalone SoundBlaster I had in 1990's, all the other "generic" ones tha...

Re: [SOLVED] TigerVNC information

Thanks for the guide, it's really hard to find useful beginners information on TigerVNC. But there are no .deb files on your links or the most recent releases, so my problem is where to place the files?!?!? It comes organized under /user, so I assumed it would be just a matter of unpacking it over m...

MacBookAir3,2 - Late 2010 according to the serial number (I went to check :P)
But I know what you are talking about, it's not that hybrid Intel card, this one already has a GeForce 320M.

MacBook, Nvidia drivers and other stories....

So I'm the happy owner of an MacBook Air running LMDE2 and this is my guide for people struggling with problems that shouldn't be a problem. The good news is MUCH of the real problems are old news and LMDE2 is running very smooth from the box. Well, this is a very old MacBook (2011 if I'm not mistak...
