Nemo - Odd external drive name glitch

Hi, I'd like to ask about a rather unusual issue I'm having with Nemo. Some time ago, I formatted a microSD card (can't remember if it was using Disks or Gparted) to ext4 to put my Timeshift backups on. When formatted, I labelled it as "sys_backup". Now, no matter what external drive I plug in (my e...

Re: HiDpi - Some programs not scaling properly

As per the instructions to apply it to GTK2 themes: If you need HIDPI Support in GTK2 the theme includes a HIDPI version of the gtkrc theme file and a helper script to toggle between the regular and HIDPI version. To run the script open a terminal window (Ctrl-Alt-T) and use the following command to...

Re: HiDpi - Some programs not scaling properly

Thanks, will try it out immediately! :D

I sort of had a hunch that it had to do with GTK2 vs GTK3 apps...but what had, and still has me puzzled is why GTK2 apps scale perfectly in a live session...

HiDpi - Some programs not scaling properly

Hi, Just did a fresh install of Cinnamon Sylvia and some apps aren't scaling adequately on my 4K screen. The system scales the desktop correctly, as well as most apps (Nemo, LibreOffice, Archive Manager, Thunderbird, etc.) out of the box, but in some applications (VLC, SMplayer, etc), icons and text...

Intel Dual Band Wireless 7260

Hi, I'm trying to find a solution for wifi issues with the card mentioned above. In Mint 17x, I had the option to choose the right driver from the Mint driver manager, but in Mint 18x that option no longer appears: it only offers me the intel-microcode drivers. In 18.2 Cinnamon, wifi would disconnec...

Desktop for HiDPI – On the fence

I’d been using Kubuntu for years, and finally switched to Mint KDE back in 17.3. I have a 4K display on a 13” laptop (Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro), and the eventual transition from plasma 4 to plasma 5 didn't play out well on my laptop. In previous editions of Mint KDE (First Plasma 5 editions), before the sc...

Re: Rotate display back and forth with keyboard??

Worked great for me too, thanks! I mainly wanted it because I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro and want to invert the screen (turn it upside down) when it's in "tablet mode" For those who want to program keyboard shortcuts directly instead of having to create application launchers, here's how to do it in Ci...

[SOLVED] Mint 18.1 Cinnamon installation crashes

Hi, I'm posting about an issue I encountered while trying to install Mint 18.1 Cinnamon edition (which, strangely, didn't occur when installing 18.1 KDE on the same machine a week earlier). The first time I tried to install I got a "The installer has crashed" message but wasn't paying attention to t...

Re: Very slow Mint 18.1 KDE

Spoke too soon. Performance issues aren't as bad as they originally were, but there's still a certain amount of lag from time to time, which I hadn't experienced before on this machine on any other distro, and which feels out of place, particularly on a fresh install and a SSD. Still some flickering...

Re: VERY SLOW Mint 18.1 KDE

Thanks DeMus. My laptop's specs are decent enough, so I shouldn't really have any speed issues, regardless of the distro, but I can't resist the temptation of trying a new distro, so I'll give Manjaro KDE a spin! :D

Re: VERY SLOW Mint 18.1 KDE

Danpharrell, Thanks for your reply. Strangely enough, the problem appears to have disappeared. After posting this thread I ran the update manager, which showed a new kernel version was available (4.4.0-72.93). Updated, rebooted and the problem appears to have disappeared. I read the thread you linke...

Very slow Mint 18.1 KDE

Hi all, I'm a new user to the Mint community. I've using Ubuntu since 9.04 (Jaunty) and Kubuntu since 10.10 (Maverick) and very pleased overall (dual boot, but Windows only for Premiere and photoshop). I'm a big KDE fan due to customization, dolphin, konsole, kate and pretty much all of the other it...
