I was toying with doing that but was scared it might go for ever.
It did work and everything is back to the way it was before. Thanks a bunch.

[SOLVED] Update manager package blacklisted

Mint 18.1. I think I've blacklisted a opera browser package in the update manager ( v 5.2.1.3) by right clicking it on the list and setting to "ignore updates for this package". As soon as I did this it disappeared from the update manager package list. Now I think I've fixed the problem of an out of...

Re: Multiple Mint repositories 'no longer signed'

Before I read this post I was trying to get my update manager to work like everyone else i guess and i set one line that i thought might be an issue to 'ignore'. Now I'd like to cancel that setting but don't know how to do it and the line is missing from the list of updates. Anyone know how I can un...

Re: Upgrade 17.3 to 18 [Solved]

Hello. I'm relatively new to Linux and have a couple of questions. Is this a reason for my update manager telling me it could not refresh the list of updates. (Most of the error messages point back to the Opera update causing problems and trying to update opera from the manager fails) I don't unders...

Re: Installing mint from CDs

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately the bios will not allow a boot from USB and the drive which is labeled dvd rom cd-r -rw will not read a dvd in the boot mode. I checked the community link but don't think that idea ever got off the ground. I've also tried installing MAC Puppy but the celeron...

Installing mint from CDs

Is there a 32 bit version of mint that will install from CD?
I have a Panasonic CF-51 which will not read a DVD.

Thanks

Re: Solved - Restarting Network service

Thanks for telling me about the wired connection switch. I'd been right clicking the network icon and trying to do a reset and of course couldn't. Its been driving me nuts for months as the connection sometimes fails when it comes out of suspend. You left click the icon and then toggle the switch. F...

v18.1 desktop icon [SOLVED]

I'm seeing a small square icon (looks like a talk bubble in a cartoon) appearing randomly in the top right corner of the desktop often after a wake up push on the power button. There's an exclamation mark inside and a number showing on the left. It disappears if I try to click on it. It looks like s...

Re: Formatting second SATA drive

Thanks so much for the detailed answer. It looks like I have a lot to learn about Linux but am enjoying the challenge.
In this case both options will work but will follow your advice. Mint has given new life to an Intel pc I built some 10 years ago.
