Re: Boot Loop ? Beeps twice 20 seconds apart.

Not much to be confused about. This version of Mint and your GPU/motherboard combo are incompatible. Life's to short to be obsessed with things like this. :) Either change GPU's or the version of Mint and move on. You say a previous version of Mint works so use that or a different flavour like Manja...

Re: Boot Loop ? Beeps twice 20 seconds apart.

Well if you have a spare GPU to try, go for it, that only takes a few minutes !

Not sure if you would have to do a new install of Mint for a GPU change, I would think not.

What GPU do you have for a few days ?

Re: Boot Loop ? Beeps twice 20 seconds apart.

One thing you could try if you really want to narrow down the cuprit.

Install Ubuntu on the SSD if your current Mint installation is not critical to keep.

I personally think it's something in Mint and your motherboard combo

Re: Starting hard drives during startup

As Flemur alluded to in his post above "Also you might be able to do this with a GUI thru the 'disks' program". I have multiple HD's and I automounted all the ones I wanted simply by going to : Start menu/Preferences/Disks, then pick the HD you want and click on the gear icon below the HD (automount...

Re: What Software R U Using for System Backups

I only use Terabyte Unlimited for all my OS needs, imaging, partitioning, Boot Manager, have used their products for years and wouldn't use anything else.

Re: [SOLVED] Opera doesn't open maximized in 19.2 (Cinnamon)

This is what I've just done and it appears to be working ok, even after an Opera update. In Opera go Menu > Settings. In the "On startup" section select "Retain tabs from previous session" (optionally select "Display the start page first" option if you want that). This seems to cause Opera to remem...

Re: Boot Loop ? Beeps twice 20 seconds apart.

Well, since I did all that, it keeps crashing. Well, to be more precise, the visuals crash I think. The mouse still moves and the music still plays. I can't click on anything though. I have gone to 19.2. Is that less stable? Graphics driver? Any thoughts please? I am wondering why you have 2 differ...

Re: Boot Loop ? Beeps twice 20 seconds apart.

So what Nvidia driver was you trying ?
I'm using 390.116 as that driver has always worked fine for my Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB.
I tried the recommended one once (430.26) and had problems, so I used the old one and everything was fine.

I don't know if anyone is following this, but I thought I would add an extra bit of info.
I am still following this to see if you get a resolution.

I guess we'll have to see if a new , verified live Mint USB gives you a different result.

Re: Boot Loop ? Beeps twice 20 seconds apart.

Sounds like a problem with the SSD to me.
I would say to test the ram with memtest but if it runs fine with Windows then I still suspect the SSD.
Have you ran the Crucial system scanner and the Crucial Storage executive tool ?

Re: Boot Loop ? Beeps twice 20 seconds apart.

I have heard back from Gigabyte and they are suggestion I flash my bios. I have version F2 and they are suggesting F4. Re: How to Fix Brother Printer?

The Brother help desk has warned me never to call or email about Linux issues or I could potentially be banned from their site altogether. Wow That is bizarre !! If they said that to me I would be going to management and put in a serious complaint. Having said that, I have 2 Brother printers, a HL-...

Re: download of 2 Libre Office updates extremely slow

Happened to me this morning as well, I cancelled the d/l as it was ridiculously slow.
Tried again a couple hrs later and it was still slow but not as bad as earlier, finally got it done.
Must have been a server glitch.

I've been using Bitwarden ever since LastPass changed hands.
Works fine in Win10, Ubuntu and Mint.

Re: Why are boot & shutdown so much faster than Windows 10?

all of my linux machines take longer to start up than windows 10 ever did, but shut down was about the same, which was almost instantly. Which concurs with my experience. I am rarely even using Win10 now, probably once a week for updates. Since Mint was updated to 19.1 it's been so nice compared to...

Re: Why are boot & shutdown so much faster than Windows 10?

the reason that Win may startup is faster in your particular case might be because your using its "hybrid" shutdown which is really not a full shutdown at all...its a partial hybernation type of shutdown that is found in win 10 systems which results in a very fast startup...if that feature were dis...
