Re: best password manager

I switched to Bitwarden when Lastpass changed ownership a few yrs ago and they started charging what I thought was a ridiculous amount, plus they were having a lot of problems with the program. Doesn't surprise me at all that they want to gouge even more from their users. Bitwarden works for my tabl...

Re: thunderbird 78 differences

Sorry I can't of more help, maybe if/when Mint finally auto updates my 68 version I can.

One thing I forgot to ask is you said you had to switch to 78 because you needed OAuth2 authentication, Tbird 68 has that, or is it something specific to Office 365 ?

Re: Printer for LM

I use Brother printers, a monochrome and colour, both lasers.

HL-2320D and MFC-9130CW

I switched from deskjets to lasers yrs ago and have saved a bundle on ink costs.

I guess most printers will work in Linux, so it's a matter of personal preferences I think.

Mine work in Mint, Ubuntu and Win10

Re: thunderbird 78 differences

I would think if you Uncheck both those options it should disable it. I just checked about: config , searched update and there is an option if you scroll down the list.. app.update.service.enabled The default is True, so if you click on that and set it to false maybe that's what you want ? Again, th...

Re: thunderbird 78 differences

Another annoyance is that the software keeps checking for updates, and every other day or so i get a message that it is unable to update itself. There must be a way to disable updates entirely- anyone know the setting in about:config for this? -Fizz In Win10, I checked in Tbird under Options /Gener...

Re: thunderbird 78 differences

I can't help you but I don't have your issue with Tbird78. I run that version in Windows 10, I have 5 different email accounts and Tbird just checks the mail and automatically inputs the password for each one like it always has. I haven't upgraded my Mint and Ubuntu versions of Tbird, they are still...

Just ignore that message. Acronis will work OK. I'm Using Acronis for over 10 years. It is definitely THE BEST backup and restore app I did ever tried. Worth every penny.
Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Acronis was the WORST backup software I ever used, not worth 2 cents to me.

Re: Newbie Partitions. Live in Linux but still need Windows .

I installed the Macrium Reflect PE recovery on the machine which when booted gives you the choice to boot W10 or 'something else'. If I want to use Linux I plug in the USB SSD then restart the PC then navigate the blue screen to mint (always shown as Ubuntu) Thanks Lert. Besides an imageCreator lik...

Re: Nvme legacy boot?

Legacy is limited to a max drive size of 2TB and a max of four primary partitions or three primary partitions and an extended partition. You can put logical partitions inside the extended partition. Not completely true regarding the 4 primary limit. I use TeraByte Unlimited's BIBM which allows unli...

You don't really need a swap partition if using Mint 19 or 20, it automatically creates a swap file when installing.

Re: Do I Have To Switch To The Nvidia Driver?

Some people have problems under certain circumstances but it's nothing that can't be fixed quickly and easily. If only that was true ! It can be if they learn to use Timeshift before buggering about with their machines first  Got sick and tired of restoring Mint 20 when I can't use the ...

Re: Apparent Mint 20 nvidia - libseccomp conflict?

It seems that I will have to once again perform a clean installation of my LM 20 system. Uninstalling the nvidia driver with Driver Manager does not work properly, I do not have a snapshot from before installing the driver, and I feel uncomfortable trying any command line driver purging. However, a...

Re: Apparent Mint 20 nvidia - libseccomp conflict?

Sorry if this might seem off topic but I think it is related to this topic. I have completely given up on Mint 20 for now, never had so much trouble with a Mint upgrade/clean install and Nvidia. First I tried the upgrade route with 19.3 to 20, everything went fine until I rebooted and was stuck in 6...
