Re: Failed Update Manager FIXED

Thanks for the reply !
I guess I entered the line wrong, didn't know about putting sudo first as per your suggestion, seems to be all fixed now as it fixed everything and I tried running the Update Manager and all is good.
Thanks again, much appreciated !!

[Solved] Failed Update Manager

I was updating a new Update Manager and I got this : E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. E: _cache->open() failed, please report. Haven't a clue how to fix this . Tried running " dpkg configure-a " in a terminal but gives a bunch of ...

Re: CD labeling software

I'm assuming to use the CD printing function, it has to be using Windows like my Epson R300 ?

Re: CD labeling software

What printer ?

Usually the printer has to have a CD printing tray like my Epson R300, which I use in Windows to print CD's, never tried it for Linux.

Re: [Solved] Anyone using Protonmail Bridge with Thunderbird?

Thanks for the answer Peter. I do use Proton mail, but only in Windows 10 and my Android smartphone. I'll take a look at the links you posted, but I'll admit I have no inclination to pay for using Proton mail, I find their subscription prices too high for what you get. I also use Linux Mint and Ubun...

Re: [Solved] Anyone using Protonmail Bridge with Thunderbird?

I see you marked your original post as Solved, I'm assuming that's because it doesn't work properly or that their support is not worth the price of a paid subscription. Thanks for the update, I suspect it would have saved me going though a bunch of hassles if I had changed to the paid mode, being as...

Re: Anyone using Protonmail Bridge with Thunderbird?

I haven't tried it yet because you can only do that with the paid version of Proton Mail.
I use proton Mail but not the paid version.
I will be interested to know the answer to your question though.

Re: SUSPEND Stopped working, as well as low graphics boots

I had the exact same problems a few days ago after a Nvidia graphics driver update ( driver 460.80 ). No suspend anymore, it even added a Hibernate option on the log off screen which I had never seen before, choosing Suspend did nothing, had to reboot via power switch on computer. On reboot I had th...

Re: Create partition in new unallocated space to install Win 8.1 alongside Win 7 and Linux Mint Mate 19.3

The other option is BootItBM from TeraByte Unlimited, which I've use for years. I'd never heard of it, but, looking it up, not free and non-standard. Given there is only 66 bytes available (512 - 446) in the first sector of a drive for a legacy partition table it must be doing something weird, like...

Re: Create partition in new unallocated space to install Win 8.1 alongside Win 7 and Linux Mint Mate 19.3

You have used up all your primary partitions so this is a non-starter. Your only option is either another drive or overwrite win7. Not exactly true as there is another option, although I doubt the OP would use it. The other option is BootItBM from TeraByte Unlimited, which I've use for years. With ...

Re: best password manager

I switched to Bitwarden when Lastpass changed ownership a few yrs ago and they started charging what I thought was a ridiculous amount, plus they were having a lot of problems with the program. Doesn't surprise me at all that they want to gouge even more from their users. Bitwarden works for my tabl...

Re: thunderbird 78 differences

Sorry I can't of more help, maybe if/when Mint finally auto updates my 68 version I can.

One thing I forgot to ask is you said you had to switch to 78 because you needed OAuth2 authentication, Tbird 68 has that, or is it something specific to Office 365 ?

Re: Printer for LM

I use Brother printers, a monochrome and colour, both lasers.

HL-2320D and MFC-9130CW

I switched from deskjets to lasers yrs ago and have saved a bundle on ink costs.

I guess most printers will work in Linux, so it's a matter of personal preferences I think.

Mine work in Mint, Ubuntu and Win10

Re: thunderbird 78 differences

I would think if you Uncheck both those options it should disable it. I just checked about: config , searched update and there is an option if you scroll down the list.. app.update.service.enabled The default is True, so if you click on that and set it to false maybe that's what you want ? Again, th...
