Re: Email clients

Hi Sorry if I was unclear. I mean, if I've got 15 emails of which are open and read, and are waiting to get responded to (some emails might take weeks to respond to for different reasons and I don't want them to get lost in the inbox among other mails) I want to be able to leave them opened, either ...

Email clients

I've yet to find any email client which can remember opened emails when its re-launched after closing (besides Thunderbird). In case I've missed a setting or plugin, does anyone here know of any other email client which can remember what emails were open from last time it was running, besides Thunde...

Persistent VPN

Hi
Is there any way of making a VPN connection persistent to the extent that it completely blocks all traffic if no VPN connection is established (unless manually disconnected) ?

Since upgrading to 19.3

Hey Since upgrading yesterday I've encountered a bug in Cinnamon. Task bar (panel for running tasks) display a tool tip when hovered, with text and with thumbnail. Two tooltips have completely hung, and are just stuck on screen although only the text is stuck, not the thumbnail. Might there be any w...

Re: Crontab and xidle

Oh I see, then I misunderstood you. Thanks for clarifying, I'll give the autostart option a try.

Okay, video players reporting to X would explain it, because its not the same as xprintidle which I've played around with a bit. xprintidle only seem to check for keyboard and mouse input it seems.

Re: Crontab and xidle

Hm, that might be a bit to messy solution. It would be much better if it would just run in the background, but I do thank you for your input. Think I have to come up with some other solution. Unsure if xidle only checks the cpu usage, or if it takes other factors into account as well. Perhaps compar...

Re: Crontab and xidle

Thank you rene for explaining.

What would be a better way of setting it up in that case?
Basically, I want to run my bash script every minute, check if xidle is running, and if its not, the bash script will start it.

Crontab and xidle

Hi

I'm trying to launch xidle from a bash script with crontab, but it will not start even if I only have the xidle command in the script.
Does anyone know what the reason may be for why xidle can not run in crontab?

Re: Latest update of Thunderbird

kyphi;
Task bar = panel, may be I should drop the windows terminology :)
Tabs = individual pages or documents contained in the program, as with in any modern web-browser.

Re: Latest update of Thunderbird

kyphi; Thanks for the reply. Okay, well, I'd rather not remove any old emails, even it it would improve or even solve the problem :/ I've tied Claws just briefly, although it seems fast and clean it still lacks the support for tabs. It sucks to have the task-bar propagated with 15 windows just becau...

Re: Latest update of Thunderbird

Strange. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird, but still same results. Starting without addons and in safe mode makes no difference. Oh well, I'll just have to learn to live with the crappynes :/ Cant understand why no other client has implemented tabs, its so dang useful when dealin...

Latest update of Thunderbird

Hi I'm wondering, is anyone else having issues after the 60.2.1 update of Thunderbird? Since its updated, Thunderbird has become dreadfully slow or can even stop responding completely. Been looking to switch client, but can't find any other which has tabs for emails. If anyone knows of a client that...

Re: tmpfs

Thanks for your reply gm10 ! interesting reading,

I was unaware of ramfs, only thought there was tmpfs.
Cold boot attack aside, after reading about ramfs, I think it would be better suited.

tmpfs

Hi I'm wondering regarding creating a tmpfs drive, if anyone has a clue here.. If I were to make a 1mb ram-drive, with a 1mb file, and remove it, is it possible by any means to recover it? If that is the case, if I overwrite the whole area with 1mb new data, would this overwrite the same parts of ra...

LMDE 3

Hi

I just read the post about LMDE 3. Besides possibly being a viable option if Ubuntu would no longer be developed, would there be any advantages to running this version if/when finished in terms of stability, security, speed etc?
