Even stranger then. I'm not experiencing any noticeable load, even when there is slowdown personally.

Re: Latest update of Thunderbird

kyphi;
Task bar = panel, may be I should drop the windows terminology :)
Tabs = individual pages or documents contained in the program, as with in any modern web-browser.

Re: Latest update of Thunderbird

kyphi; Thanks for the reply. Okay, well, I'd rather not remove any old emails, even it it would improve or even solve the problem :/ I've tied Claws just briefly, although it seems fast and clean it still lacks the support for tabs. It sucks to have the task-bar propagated with 15 windows just becau...

Re: Latest update of Thunderbird

Strange. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird, but still same results. Starting without addons and in safe mode makes no difference. Oh well, I'll just have to learn to live with the crappynes :/ Cant understand why no other client has implemented tabs, its so dang useful when dealin...

Latest update of Thunderbird

Hi I'm wondering, is anyone else having issues after the 60.2.1 update of Thunderbird? Since its updated, Thunderbird has become dreadfully slow or can even stop responding completely. Been looking to switch client, but can't find any other which has tabs for emails. If anyone knows of a client that...

Re: tmpfs

Thanks for your reply gm10 ! interesting reading,

I was unaware of ramfs, only thought there was tmpfs.
Cold boot attack aside, after reading about ramfs, I think it would be better suited.

tmpfs

Hi I'm wondering regarding creating a tmpfs drive, if anyone has a clue here.. If I were to make a 1mb ram-drive, with a 1mb file, and remove it, is it possible by any means to recover it? If that is the case, if I overwrite the whole area with 1mb new data, would this overwrite the same parts of ra...

LMDE 3

Hi

I just read the post about LMDE 3. Besides possibly being a viable option if Ubuntu would no longer be developed, would there be any advantages to running this version if/when finished in terms of stability, security, speed etc?

Firefox updates - empty changelogs

Hi

Just a general question, if anyone has a clue:
I've noticed that whenever Firefox has an update, the changelog is always empty (No changelog available). How come?

xset m

Heyy I just re-installed a fresh Mint 18.3, and I'm trying to change the mouse speed as I've done on my previous installation with xset m 5 1 although nothing is happening. Has something changed? The pointer used to go flying of if the value was to high, but no matter if I set it to 5 or 1000 its st...

Re: [SOLVED] Intel-microcode

I'll just have to sit back and relax until there's a new kernel update then, and hope its been fixed.

Thanks again for clarifying !

Re: [SOLVED] Intel-microcode

Just a quick follow up here;

How does updating the microcode relate to the Spectre bug? Will it solve the issue, or are there any further steps that needs to be taken?

Re: Intel-microcode

Oh, nice ! :)

And when there is new microcode released, do I have to go into the driver manager and do anything or is this done automatically?

[SOLVED] Intel-microcode

Hey !

I just installed the "Intel-microcode" package, but I'm a bit confused. Does this install the latest microcode when installed, or do I need to do something after the package has been installed? I've checked the update manager but nothing there.

That's right. 4.4 is LTS, and patched in the most recent version; 4.8 is neither of those things as far as I know.

Okay,
thank you for clarifying !

Re: Update kernel problem

Yes, 4.4 worked better. Although once rebooted it tries to load up the 4.13 kernel again. How to set 4.4 as default? Once booted into 4.4, open the update manager, Click View, Linux Kernels from the menu bar. Select 4.13 on the left, then select the one that is installed on the right side, and clic...
