Re: mate-screenshot -a don't work properly with keyboard shortcut

I use the shortcut Mode4+p for screenshots. If you enter mate-screenshot --interactive as the command a window will appear when you use the shortcut to allow you to choose which part of the screen you wish to grab. Works flawlessly for me. That's already been said tenfoot, in the first reply...&quo...

Re: Can I delete my web browser icons from the menu & launch them using the command line whenever I need them?

I have no icons displayed for the majority of programs I use, Instead, I just set up keyboard shortcuts. For example, to open Firefox I use Mod4+/. The advantage of this is that you can enter the command that Buffy suggested once and that is it. I do have one problem with keyboards shortcuts on LMv2...

Re: Keyboard shortcuts...

Further to my last post on this issue, I have downloaded and installed Endeavour OS and created the same keyboard shortcuts as I use for Linux Mint v20. I do not have to have a window okpen for the shortuts to work. So to summarise. the position. All systems use the Mate DE SolusOS - does not need a...

Re: Got a nice flash drive today and need

I cannot find details for a 8GB SanDisk Cruise Flash drive. The smallest I can find is 128 GB at a cost of $US11.99 from Western Digital. If the $800 is correct, and you haven't mistyped it, the people at the flea market have fleeced you. A computer does NOT need a flash drive to work. It does need ...

Re: Keyboard shortcuts...

A better test would be using ubuntu, since LM is based on it. If you see the same disliked behavior there, then the problem is upstream. Further to my previous reply. I downloaded Ubuntu Mate and burnt it to a DVD and launched it. Created some Keyboard Shortcuts and they work without having to have...

Ah! My old brain didn't think of that. I'll download Ubuntu Mate within the next few days and burn it toa DVD and then run it live, and repeat the experiment. Will report back.

The best breed of dog I have ever had the pleasure of sharing my life with. Albert was the first Italian Spinone born in New Zealand. He died in his sleep just six weeks short of his 13th birthday. The average life span of the breed is 12 years. . Albert.JPG Jordan celebrated her 13th birthday on 7 ...

Re: Keyboard shortcuts...

Yesterday, as an experiment, I ran Solus with the Mate DE live on my computer and set up some keyboard shortcuts, using the Mode4 key as the modifier. Everything worked perfectly. My question, therefore, is what modifications have the Mint developers made to Mate which requires me to have a window o...

Re: How do I fix Linux?

Do as Moem suggested. Get a fresh ISO of the current version of Linux Mint and after backing up data you wish to keep, install it and report back.

I note that your backup was taking a long time. Has it finished? If so, I look forward to reading how you got on with a new installation.

Hi tenfoot, and others, Perhaps there something else going on with your mouse. Are you saying that you cannot wheel scroll at all with any browsers or just Brave browser. Or, using up and down arrows and or page up and down are not working like you want? Just the Brave browser. Never had any troubl...

I have many browsers installed, including Brave which is considered one of the best and more secure browsers. As DAMIEN1307 mentioned you can try check the browser flags settings. Open a ...

You don't really mean Celena, do you? That was v3.1 of Mint. It was released September 2007 and ended its life in October 2008.

Nothing is certain in this world other than death and taxes :-) But putting aside the levity, if you install all the updates that appear for Linux Mint, it is unlikely that you will be infected with a "nasty". Obviously, no one is able to guarantee that you won't be but I've been using Min...

Re: I wish the Dictionaries that check spelling were half arse decent

Very interesting post. I learnt to touch type at the relative old age of 24, together with Pitman's shorthand and bookkeeping. Three skills which served me well for the remainder of my working life. And, now a "confession" :-( I read your previous post as "typing by FEET, instead of t...
