Re: Financial program that can handle tracking of US tax basis over variety of situations

I have used use KMyMoney on Linux Mint Mate for years, although not for the purpose for which you wish to use it.

May I suggest you join the KMyMoney mailng list. They are very helpful. Just point your browser to

Saving files to Desktop...

Using LM19.2 Mate My system is configured to save all files to the Desktop. In all previous version of Linux Mint it has done so. For some reason, in v19.2 it saves to the /home/zed/Desktop folder but is not shown on the Desktop itself. Has a change been made in Mate v1.22 or have I inadvertently do...

Re: Running video files automatically... (SOLVED)

Thank you for the further replies. I am delighted to say that I have found that my favourite video player GNOMR MPV does this. I may experiment with the video editors mentioned but as I have never used these it could be some time before I get the hang of them.

Re: Running video files automatically...

Thank you for the very prompt replies. Somehow I didn't think it would be as simple as that. I had visions of having to write a script file to achieve this

And thank yo for making a geriatric very happy :D

Running video files automatically... (SOLVED)

Using LM19.1 Mate.

I have several videos (each about 4.5 mins duration) and I want to run one after the other without having to physically click on the file. Much as a slideshow of images would. Is this possible, please?

Ah! yes I liked that. Try this one. You may enjoy it. Not only is she a joy to watch, she has a beautiful voice, too! And the comedy is excellent.

Re: Whats everyone currently listening to?

Classical music and jazz are my preferred musical genres BUT I was browsing through Youtube videos, as one does, and came across what I thought would be a normal recording of songs from Phantom of the Opera by a group I didn't know. So had a look and listen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VgLKXD-B...

Re: No Option for burn to USB. Need Help.

As I stated earlier, I do not keep dvds around. I'd have to buy a pack just to install linux. I may go ahead and do that anyway. Otherwise, it seems I will have to take a course and do much reading just to install it. I will try again, but I am losing interest in Linux. One solution which hasn't ye...

Re: LinuxMint 19.1 and Windows 10 problem...

Thankfully the computer now has Linux Mint v19.1 Mate installed. After some more discussion with the owner, he told me he had several other computers with Windows 10 installed and asked me to remove the Windows 10 HD on the computer upon which I was to install Linux Mint, and provided a 240GB SSD on...

Re: LinuxMint 19.1 and Windows 10 problem...

Cannot tell you how to correct this issue without making massive changes to the Win10 installation, which could result in data loss and breaking Win10. Yes, that's my fear, too. The owner has given me another HDD. If I fit this I presume it will appear as dev/sdb. If I install Linux Mint on this pa...

Modifying mp4 video files...

I have several .mp4 files where the music is too loud. So much so, in fact, that it is impossible to clearly hear the singer. Is it possible to modify the video by reducing the loudness of the music and retaining the volume of the vocals. All I have learned by searching the internet is that the musi...
