Using Linux Mint v19.2 Tina Mate. I have lived in New Zealand for the last 57 years and communicate with brother, sisters, nephews and nieces via Skype once a week, and I have Windows 7 installed on my laptop as a dual boot with LM just for this purpose. Re: Friday song

I was intrigued enough to visit the website and watch and listen to the video but struggle to see what this has to do with cyber bullying. Perhaps I'm to ancient to be able to decipher the message in the lyrics! One of the singers whose career I follow on Youtube is a young Canadian, Jayden Rylee. S...

Re: (SOLVED) blkid behavior has changed

Which version of LM are you using? I'm using LM v19.2 MATE and blkid works and displays correctly without having to use sudo lm-19:~$ blkid /dev/sda3: UUID="a18e3871-043e-46c7-a757-29c27c3a29a8" TYPE="swap" PARTUUID="3d603f5d-03" /dev/sda5: LABEL="LM 19.1 Mate" UUID="760c4bc1-3248-4161-9fdd-9d47b7d1...

Re: LibreOffice Calc datafile too big...

Great! I forgot to mention that if you do this (the > thing) : Code: Select all grep -i Citroen filename.csv | grep -i c6 > newfile.csv you *might* get a valid, new .csv file, containing only the Citroen entries ... assuming the file doesn't need a special header (I haven't used a csv file in years...

Re: LibreOffice Calc datafile too big...

Opening this file with LibreOffice Calc presented a .CSV file of 33 columns. Try in a terminal grep -i Citroen filename.csv | grep -i c6 Thank you for the solution. You're a hero! The problem is now solved and I've racked up some "brownie" points. Didn't even think of grep as always considered it b...

My preferred listening genres are classics and jazz. Never thought Id become addicted to Metal or Rock but these three youngsters are "something else". Here's a blurb about them. Re: Seeing hard drive contents

Hi Tony-b I think we are going around in circles here and possibly making things more complicated than they should be :-) Here is my take on it. You said that $ sudo blkid -o list showed /dev/sda1 ext4 / 7c194eda-e56e-4f85-aa39-a90478575ab4 /dev/sda5 swap (not mounted) b580a79c-d13e-4384-bfbd-cae9d7...

Re: Background Slideshow from Multiple Folders?

Have you thought of trying Variety. I use it to show backgrounds from a Directory of pictures on another drive, as well as from the location you mention. Images can be set to change in seconds, minutes, hours, or days.

Variety is in the Package Manager (Synaptic).

Using LM19.2 Mate My system is configured to save all files to the Desktop. In all previous version of Linux Mint it has done so. For some reason, in v19.2 it saves to the /home/zed/Desktop folder but is not shown on the Desktop itself. Has a change been made in Mate v1.22 or have I inadvertently do...

Re: Running video files automatically... (SOLVED)

Thank you for the further replies. I am delighted to say that I have found that my favourite video player GNOMR MPV does this. I may experiment with the video editors mentioned but as I have never used these it could be some time before I get the hang of them.

Re: Running video files automatically...

Thank you for the very prompt replies. Somehow I didn't think it would be as simple as that. I had visions of having to write a script file to achieve this

And thank yo for making a geriatric very happy :D

Running video files automatically... (SOLVED)

Using LM19.1 Mate.

I have several videos (each about 4.5 mins duration) and I want to run one after the other without having to physically click on the file. Much as a slideshow of images would. Is this possible, please?
