Re: Recommended Digital Tablet for 18.3 Cinnamon

I had my son try to use my tablet on his computer and he said the tablet worked but he couldn't get the stylus to work. Which jogged my brain. Was the stylus/pen charged? The stylus/pen is now charged and working. I should have checked that first. Thank you for your help, ArtGirl! Thanks, and glad ...

Re: Recommended Digital Tablet for 18.3 Cinnamon

Thanks, ArtGirl. I've got a Pro tablet, which worked on my laptop when it was running Windows 7, but not since I made the jump to Linux Mint. I haven't tried using it with Gimp - I'm trying to get the hang of Inkscape after years working in Illustrator. I don't remember if I installed with the 3rd ...

Re: Recommended Digital Tablet for 18.3 Cinnamon

I'm new here but I've been having a lot of trouble getting my Huion H610 to work on Cinnamon 18.3. Jointerpic - I wish I had seen your post earlier today. I've tried too many ways of loading the drivers, with no luck. Since I'd already installed the latest DIGImend drivers, I jumped to creating the...

Re: Cannot find Wine in mate

Wine is in there somewhere because when using context menu on a .jpg I get the option to 'Open with Wine application'. I also have Wine internet Explorer as an option in this menu. But I cannot find the program. I wish to run Windows 10 or 7 Photozoom Pro. I think Wine may not run W10 on Linux but ...

Re: Gimp 2.10 pre-release appimage available

I won't post again.... I hope I did not post something to upset you. It certainly was not my intent. To echo wallyUSA - thanks for sharing. I had played with some of the Gimp beta AppImages, but was not aware a RC had been released. I think AppImage is an excellent way to manage development release...

Re: Gimp 2.10 pre-release appimage available

Glad it was of help to you BenTrabetere. It's not a tar file, AZgl1500. An appimage, you just give it permission to run. Regarding other comments, I won't post again, as it's hardly my problem what Gimp does technically or otherwise, and the needless criticisms, as usual, are unwarranted. I'm not fo...

Re: Gimp 2.10 appimage available

Note, that there are still 12 bugs, which the developers name as blocker bugs . Surely not recommended for average users, who are not prepared for bug hunting and reporting. I don't know; I don't use Gimp, but happened to see the link, have read it's hard to find working appimages, and knew quite a...

:-( ... hopefully won't be too long before the official release. If you're using a VM or something, here's the all-systems download page: https://www.gimp.org/downloads/devel/ for 2.10.0-RC1, incase that's an option.

Gimp 2.10 pre-release appimage available

For those who use Gimp, there's a 2.10 pre-release appimage available here ... https://github.com/aferrero2707/gimp-appimage/releases . I don't use Gimp, but had a little try out, and it's easy to move/zoom the page, pressure sensitive settings worked, and it was pleasant to play with the brushes. I...

Re: [Security] How does the security of a default install of Mint compare to Ubuntu and Debian? Why choose Mint over Ubu

Was the motherboard issue contained to Ubuntu? Or were other Distro's affected? I did do some research and found that the problem was introduced in the mainline kernel 4.11 rc1 and wasn't fixed until 4.14 rc1 and a Mint user on IRC claims his Lenovo was bricked over a year ago. A poster on the Leno...

Re: [Security] How does the security of a default install of Mint compare to Ubuntu and Debian? Why choose Mint over Ubu

Digging deeper: https://lwn.net/Articles/676664/ There are no claims against Mint for supposed patent issues that I know of, and I'm pretty sure the big corporations would have enjoyed having a go at Mint/Linux ... hasn't happened. This seems to be old grudges and looking for problems. Big corporat...

Re: [Security] How does the security of a default install of Mint compare to Ubuntu and Debian? Why choose Mint over Ubu

I wouldn't worry about this. I came over in May and have had no issues with security. It seems a 'thing' on Reddit to bash Mint. Maybe some don't like how popular it is, or that it brings a lot of new people over to Linux? Regarding Ubuntu ... when I ran the live usb to see what all the fuss was abo...

Re: Windows based apps: Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop?

I haven't seen many say they've had success with PS etc. Many like the Photoshop-type features in Krita though. I use it for painting only, and that's it's central focus, but you can also animate, use text, do all kinds of things. It's great; very stable and now gpu-accelerated also. The new Krita 4...

Re: Preparing for Mint to drop the KDE distro

I agree that Mint is more stable then other distros and so far all things considered I was satisfied after tuning it up to my liking. But the DE makes the difference for me. My problems are related mostly to the dimension of the fonts and objects, so a different monitor makes no difference. The opt...

Re: Recommended Digital Tablet for 18.3 Cinnamon

ArtGirl, noticed you said the Huion H610 pro works perfectly in Mint 18.3 Mate version. Unfortunately that does not appear to be true in 18.3 Cinnamon. To get that to be even recognized at the low level (lsusb --list) I had to inatall the latest DIGImend drivers (V7 deb package from https://github....

Re: Preparing for Mint to drop the KDE distro

Well, I've been a linux user for over a decade and now let me tell you that I'm extremely disappointed. Let me explain: I have eyesight problems. - a system that LOOKED as I wanted it to, and - that could run the few programs I used (Thunderbird, Firefox, Kmymoney, Devede, VLC, XMMS) I am wondering...
