Soccer is back! WITH public. Lovin' it...

I am not a die hard soccer fan, BUT I really, REALLY loved it when the soccer competition started again in my home country. WITH public! Yes, in many other countries public still isnt allowed to go to soccer games, but in my country it is. Oh, so nice! And the "simple" presence of public during a so...

Judge Judy

I am binge watching Judge Judy. I just cant get enough of this fiery judge who has a wicked tongue and a truth radar. She can sense if someone is lying to her. Just for clarity, Judge Judy is a televised court, handling small court cases like dog bites and unpaid loans etc. Nothing really serious......

Porsche Taycan Turbo S

I want one. I simply do. It is simply jawdropping gorgeous, like any other PORSCHE, but what is new is that it is ELECTRIC. It beats the TESLA. And it is recommended by any serious auto review magazine and it is lauded by TOP GEAR. I have just told my brother that the PORSCHE TAYCAN TURBO S, will be...

Re: Linux is KING? Yes it is. No it is not.

Thank you for all your replies, insights and links to information how to support LInux. It has been really insightful. "MONEY" has been mentioned several times. Money is "a thing". Yes, I agree. But the "thing" is that Linux is cheaper than any other "alternatives". But still Linux is not the chosen...

Linux is KING? Yes it is. No it is not.

Linux is KING? Yes it is. No it is not. Linux is KING in the world of computer software for corporations, for internet servers, for smart appliances, for smart phones and even for supercomputers, because a majority of these industries are based on Linux open source software. Linux is "KING" everywhe...

Re: I am not clairvoyant, but I know what you have eaten today...

I very much doubt you could have guessed what I 'ate' today. I'm on a liquid diet at the moment but not the fun sort :? https://ensure.com/nutrition-products/ensure-original Vegetables are the fun sort of "dieting" without dieting. Vegetables have THE lowest calories of any food category, but ratio...

Re: I am not clairvoyant, but I know what you have eaten today...

Averages do matter, a lot. But people dont like averages. Everybody is special? No they are not. Masses are the same. What they eat (too much of) is the more or less the same. Too much sugar, too much salt, too much fat. But everybody thinks they are eating healthy, while they are (obviously) not. :...

Re: I am not clairvoyant, but I know what you have eaten today...

For the sole purpose of triggering a response, I naughtily exaggerated my claim in the title. But I am serious in what I am stating about the masses eating too much of THE stuff that feels good, but is not good. Everybody knows (or doesnt want to know) that they could eat healthier. A few (about 5 p...

No, I havent hacked your camera and I havent asked your mother if you ate enough vegetables as a kid, I simply read research about the average intake of food/vitamins by ordinary people and we (and you!) are busted. Because, although I am not clearvoyant, according to statistics, you have eating too...

Re: Firefox/Mozilla

I have been thinking about this article on ZDnet (see link in the first post and repeated below for easy reading) and I have especially been thinking about one statement, which surprised me and which kept me pondering about it: WHY on earth would Google invest 500 million dollars in Firefox? It make...

Re: Computer crashes when copying to USB storage

I dont know if it is the exact same problem the original poster is facing, but this freezing of the copying near the end is a known issue at github. The offered solution is a terminal command: https://gist.github.com/2E0PGS/f63544f8 ... 4f56efe52f

Re: Firefox/Mozilla

500 million dollars. That seems to be the amount of money required to finance the production of an internet browser these days. I have read that earlier and now I read it again in this article, linked above. And the article states that Google is now the main financier of Firefox in the order of 500 ...

Re: usb became read only

I was using linux mint installed in a usb drive and it was working ok. one day it was crashed and not booting. Do you mean usb stick, when you say linuxmint was installed in a usb drive? Usb sticks can run LinuxMint, but they eventually will crash, because they are not designed to run an operating ...

Re: Seeking recommendations for secure email please

I did set up both in Proton Mail and Tutanota, and they seem fine. Tutanota gives the option of sharing a password with your email recipients, for end-to-end encryption, but Proton Mail doesn't appear to have this feature, or at least not on their free 'tariff'. Perhaps this means that Proton Mail ...

Re: Cannot play Youtube AV1 MKV videos

I am using Vlc 3.0.11 and I can play av1 videos on youtube through Vlc videostream function perfectly well. As you correctly stated, Vlc does support av1 for quite a while already, perhaps you try and install a flatpak version of a newer Vlc version then your current one? What is the error that you ...

Apologies, I misread your post and confused the encryption issue with another problem I was working on simultaneously  Encryption is no part of this problem. LVM might be causing a problem though, but unfortunately I am no expert at Logical Volume Management, that's why I have posted 2 links w...
