Re: The new Firefox 73.0 messes with the Dark theme.

I havent found the solution yet, for many dark menu/button and other fields that suddenly turned white, with the new Firefox 73.0 edition. Kinda amazed that I seem to be the only one complaining about it. I thought there were many Dark Theme users? Perhaps the lack of recognition of my particular pr...

Re: Is it possible to rollback the recent Adobie Flash Plugin update?

I am being cheeky. Disable Adobe Flash. It has been a well known BIG security risk for a long time now. When safety is your first concern, better disable it all together. Sorry, I could not help you with your request. If you DO need it, I hope someone else will give you advice on how to revert back ...

Re: Unable to mount Blank DVD-R Disc, Location already mounted

Or the app Xfburn, it's easy to use, and more importantly it just works. Install Xfburn. Excellent advice. Very simple in use. Works perfectly. The most experienced users (much more experienced than I am) do advice XfBurn. LinuxMInt Cinnamon does not come with a cd/dvd burn program installed. That'...

Panda Wireless Usb Adapter. I dont even use Wifi myself, but I have seen this very question being put forward SO many times, that my first response is Panda Wireless Usb Adapter. Simply google it. And buy one. Problem solved. On this very forum so many people have solved their Wifi problems with a ...

Re: are these older hardware compatible with linux mint?

Nobody has mentioned yet, that INTEL processors seem to have better Linux compatibility than AMD in general. Dont they? If you have a choice, choose Intel over Amd. Intel simply offers better support for Linux than Amd does. Does not mean that Linux could not run excellently on Amd processors. At al...

Re: USB Stick Formatter and Image Writer - not working

2. I have previously used the image writer to write to micro SD cards for Rasp Pi ISO files. No issues. Wild guess. A micro SD card is NOT the desired hardware. Use a real usb stick and not a memory card. But this is only a wild guess, since no one has responded yet to your question. Please anyone,...

Re: Two OS backup recommendation

I am sorry to begin with. Why? Because I am going against your reasoning: you want 1 back up solution. I am gonna offer you 2 anyway, because I think it is easier ( for some folks...) There is one good backup solution. I honestly forgot it's name. Ehm I guess it was CloneZilla. But it's difficult fo...

Re: Firefox adblock problem

My advice would be to just start all over with a brand new clean profile. And then use uBlock Origin instead of Adblock Plus if you still want to use an ad blocker. Excellent advice, which I got 2 years ago as well, since I experienced the same problem as Fletcher1978, which was a great year by the...

It also depends on the USB chipset in the drive - not every chipset handles standby handshake the same way. Even the same model made different days may have different chipset. WD and Seagate seem to have 8 variations each. I have one new Seagate that does not standby and one that does. Jeewhiz. Thi...

So, I'm assuming you installed a pizza in your computer. How did that work? Does plain cheese give better speed than a meat lovers special? I have recently discovered that I am allergic to pizza's. I am not kiddin. Seriously. It's the milk INSIDE all the pizza's that makes my tummy ache. Certain be...

Hard disks these days also have a much higher data density so a minor fluctuation of read write in a newer disk might produce and error whereas the older disk has the data stored in a larger area, so to speak. Ahah, that's a good counter argument for NOT using error tests at all then? Because if th...

Re: Huge Problems with USB Stick (aka flash drive)

It still could well be a faulty CHEAP usb stick. They are being sold. I have bought and experienced it first hand as well. And they dont work from the get go. Intenso, never heard of it. Generally speaking, a good advice would be to AVOID cheap usb sticks, because they are cheap for a reason, they a...

Re: Huge Problems with USB Stick (aka flash drive)

2. Why would an interrupted file copy corrupt the whole file system rather than onlythe file? It simply can. LARGE files being copied can cripple Linux. It is an (unfortunate) well known flaw. I have experienced it many times.(unfortunately). 3. As for copying a bunch of videos (even folders) in Ne...

Yes, yes, we all have a drink sometimes and once I was pretty intoxicated and I accidentally BAKED my 10 year old external harddisc in my microwave. Re: Huge Problems with USB Stick (aka flash drive)

Could very well be a faulty usb stick. Simply bad luck. Fat32 does not support files larger than 4 GB. Could be a possible culprit. Just a thought, because you mentioned that you copied large files, but you also said the files werent much larger than 1GB, which would rule out the size as a possible ...

dark theme turned white 2 .jpg I installed the new Firefox 73.0 which has a great new feature, with consistent Zoom on all the websites. Re: Go-to solution for fanspeed?

Strange that it is so difficult to deal with the fans, and so easy in Windows. I have also tried a couple of different ones but only remembered that one "lmsensors" which didn't work. Linux is terrific at creating great software, but Linux is restricted, beyond it's own control, by the hardware man...
